Don't even think about buying one from Sooner, the stock they got from Green leaf is horribly pot bound.

If you call these guys they ship 4" pots, possibly 1 gallon...starting next year.

I was wondering about the chimneyfire oak too. I'll probably look up what it grows to look like. My Dawn redwood is turning colors inconsistently. One branch here, one there. Etc. Nice color on the narrow oaks.

There are going to be more (cultivars) added and available in spring.

Poak, I think I just lucked out on my DR. It was good/better fall color last year but it was as tough a year.

If I were your neighbor I could just sit outside all day and marvel at how beautiful your trees are. It's all so lovely and interesting and classy... I love it.

Nice! The only thing left with leaves around here is Norway maple (ugh), a few flowering dogwoods (Down at Brown County State Park, anyways - nothing on the ones up here), and of course, beech. They hang on to their leaves all winter! One oak in our backyard is reluctant to drop its leaves; they're kind of a drab brown, now.

Those beautiful red trees will get larger and larger and so will the show! Good work!
Most of my trees are hitting their peak now too.

Thanks for sharing the photos,whaas. I had never heard of Itea, let alone Henry's Garnet. I reviewed its cultural conditions online to see if it needed acidic soil but didn't see that requirement. In Denver, we have alkaline soil and dry conditions. But it looks as though Itea might survive in the right microclimate in Denver. I appreciate your introducing me to that plant, in particular.
We had our first snow Oct. 5 and a few cold days. Since then, the temps have consistently been in the 60s and 70s. My irises went into false dormancy and are now on the verge of blooming.

Could have sworn I'd commented in this topic before...

Love the pics, the Regal Prince in particular is my favorite!

Regal Prince was probably my favorite as well just because it wasn't typical of the plant...extremely long lasting as well.

Transition started mid-Sept and went until late October. Peak in my yard was 3rd week of October as I recall it.

Nice stuff there, Will. You've made some great choices.
Now get those Acer griseum's roots covered. lol

Funny you mention that. I remember asking about it and I think I got anything from put soil on it, put a small amount of mulch on it or leave it dry uncovered. Someone had an arguement for all three options.

They had since been damaged but look like they are healing.

Not sure what to do with em.

Late to the party, but your pics look great. LOVE your paperbark, and I did not know about the Itea either. Will take that one to my female half, to see if it is something she wants. I'm pretty much the trees, she's pretty much shrubs and beds. Our color has been screwed up here as well this year. Near record lows followed by record highs, and back again did not help this years show. Here there is actually got two peaks in color. The second of which is ongoing, and largely composted of Oaks, and a few others.

Side question for you please. On FK, you said you can call them and get them to ship you small plants. Do you know if that applies to most everything? Thanks in advance.

I believe the ordering applies to anything. However the person I talked to wasn't up to speed with the new Oak offerings. If you really want to go after those selections for this fall you could contact the owner, Kim.

Otherwise it sounds like they are going to be available in spring.

I came across the Shocking Gold and was very tempted. I'm debating between that one, A. rubrum 'Vanity' and Aesculus x neglecta 'Erythroblastus'

Thanks for the feedback. I have looked at them amny times and there be something that I would love to get my hands on, but didn't think that I could. I frequently have projects for myself and for others, and so they could be beneficial for some of those.

As for the Shocking Gold, one for the things I liked about the shocking Gold was that it is apparently fine with the sun. Broken Arrow also lists a Aurea Northern Red Oak, that pictures around the web look exceptional. Alas, no place to tree one right.

My neighbor has a couple young ones and they get a what I'd consider an ugly greenish yellow color.

The color on that one is much more rich!
