The more that I see, the more I suspect that this is Exotica X Dancing Queen. I made quite a few crosses of that one, so it is likely that I would have sent you those seeds.

It would perhaps explain what could possibly be called 'reverse picotee', but please know that this would not be an official term, just words to describe...

Hurray! Xuan, you are giving me encouragement to try hyberdizing again this year. So far, personal life has kept me from doing that.

What a beauty! Please do post another picture when it is fully opened. I hope that it will have some pollen for you to use on yet another cross.

As you said it, Ann, I'll label it Exotica X Dancing Queen. and a Vietnamese name describing its characters (peachy color, double petals) as well.

You bet that I'm over-the-ceiling in joy. To my knowledge, this is the FIRST EVER DOUBLE amaryllis in Vietnam. I'm so so proud. I will try all I can to "protect" it. It already has a pup!

I am so very elated! This week is graduation exam testing, and since I am an administrator of the tests, I come home terribly exhausted. When I saw these pictures, my eyes lit up as well as my spirit. My son asked me why, and I showed him. He is 15 and thinks that is the coolest thing going that some of my seeds are growing in Vietnam and producing beautiful doubles.

And, yes, the fact that it is so very doubled and not semi-doubled the first year of bloom is fantastic!

Obviously the flowers have more than 6 anthers. Do I correctly count NINE?! OMG! That is interesting! The pedicals are sufficiently long AND they are strong enough to hold the flowers upright. Fabulous!

It is fair to assume this parentage, since you HAD actually performed this hybridization.

Pastel color from Exotica, and high level of "stuffing" - or is it correct to be saying "doubleness" - on the maiden blooms, already.

Please educate me, is it really "special" that this cross has "anthers"? Don't all amaryllis blooms have them?
Normally I see two kinds of "anthers", the male and the female, on amaryllis. But this cross only has the "male". I cannot "self" it to make more of the same.

Hippeastrum commonly have six anthers,the male flower part,which has the pollen in and on it. These anthers are attached to slender tubes which are called Filaments. Collectively, these two male parts, anthers and filaments, are called stamen. Your flower is unusual,in that it has nine anthers.
The missing female flower parts are collectively known as the pistil.The pistil has The stigma,the style and the ovary as its collective members. The ovules are at the end of each style(tube)and will become seeds,if pollen gets to them,on the stigma,down through the style and into the ovary.
I grow large numbers of Pasadena,which is almost as double as your beautiful new double.It commonly does not have female flower parts.Sometimes it produces a flower with less doubleness and the flowere will be a "perfect"flower,that is having both female and male parts.Rarely, it will produce a bloom which is single petaled,and it will be fully fertile.
If you see one of my posts which don't have all these names of flower parts,when they are needed,it will be because I have forgotten them again,and am tired of having to get out the reference book.
Since you have an offset,it is promising that you may someday have a female fertile flower,because of the larger number of bulbs.

It is special that you have so many pollen anthers. That is unusual in a doubled bloom. Dancing Queen produces fused anthers, but not nearly as much as what you see on this one.

With doubles, it is often that the double is not a good seed producer, so I usually use the pollen from a double on a single that I think has good qualities.

That is the case with this one. Dancing Queen had the female parts, but none of the pollen took, so Dancing Queen had no seed pods. Exotica had a lot, and that is what you received, no doubt in my mind.

The bulblets that are forming will produce identical plants, but I encourage you to use the pollen on others.

If you perceive imperfectly double or even "single" (undouble) specimems of flowers on a scape of a "double" hybrid then do not hesitate: Selfpollinate, or dust them, perfectly, I presume, with pollen of other doubles. The genetic makeup of even imperfect, if not even totally distorted flowers is identical to perfect flowers [= higly "stuffed" in the case of doubles] of the same hybrid.
So, this would mean that "imperfect flowers are becoming perfect" (in regard to your breeding projects).
