I made a ton of spring bouquets this year from:
Peonies
"annual" Dianthus (that's how it was packaged last year, but wow do I have a ton now...)
Catmint (walker low)

Lilacs were the early favorite, or little bunches of mixed wild violets with lily-o.t.-valley.

I had many tulips and daffodils but didn't bring them in. They are just getting done now...that is how far behind we are here. The lilacs burst into full bloom during the 4 days my DH and I were visiting family out of state. I have brought in bouquets of pink and violet violets with forget me nots. I haven't brought in any of the lily of the valley yet but now that it has stopped raining I might. I have a sweet bouquet of pansies and forget me nots on the table now. The rain knocked over a couple of my yellow bearded iris so I will probably bring those in when I get home from work. It won't be long and I will have Thumbelina zinnias but I don't know if they will have stems that allow putting them in a vase. None of these were winter sown as this is my first year. I'm sure it will be awhile yet before I have flowers from my wsn seeds.

I went around right after the storm and cut flowers. In my ikebana vase in the kitchen I have a bicolor purple bearded iris, 2 Siberian iris, and a sprig of amsonia. The ikebana vase is designed for single or few stems, and the effect is very chic.

For zowie spring color, I cut yellow iris that fell over, paired it with double pink azalea boughs, baptisia australis, more amsonia and one long stem of blue penstemon that just looked out of place on the plant. That bouquet is in a short, squat vase on my dining room table (I cut the iris stems down quite a bit).

I just did this morning when the rain was still light. I just filled a vase with Sweet William, Bearded Iris, Yarrow, and Salvia officinalis :)

I brought in Daffies for two months. I especially like little vases of Tete-a-tete's. Now it's Irises, Coreposis, Dianthus, Columbine, Verbascum, several ornamental grasses and sprigs of Honeysuckle.

shasta daisies, iris, daffodils and now my first dahlia is blooming and the hyndrageas are in full wonderful color! Not to mention my two year old calendula and the achillea that I direct sowed alst year and I am in love with this year as it mixes in between the iris leaves. I have even got one hollyhock in full bloom and two more close behind!

For the past month I have been picking larkspur, batchlor buttons, pinks, shasta daisies, gerber daisies, sweet peas. Now I am floating gardenias in bowls and cutting some roses, calendula, salvias and some snapdragons .....

Peonies just finished. Now I cut Allium albopilosum/cristophii, Dianthus barbatus, Allium flavum, Campanula glomerata, Alchemilla mollis. Saw a Rudbeckia hirta yesterday. This is early. Oh, and Lilium asiatic also opened a couple days ago. Campanula persicifolia.....Coereopsis 'Goldfink'. Hostas are looking their best now. They make beautiful fillers. Feverfew, of course. And Honeysuckle.

I have a lot of other flowers in bloom. They are not what I want to cut, though, such as Clematis and Geranium and Philadelphus. And of course, roses! How can I forget roses? And Knautia 'Melton pastels', The garden is full of different fragrance. Most delicate of all is Clematis 'Betty Corning'.

Well you all inspired me to go out and pick some flowers. [g] Lots of good ideas. I hadn't thought of some of those that I do have...like the baptisia and walker's low. I don't like to cut and take away from a plant, but after the rain we had, there were a number of stray stems to pick.

You have a lot in that vase, vera! :-)

Yesterday I picked some borage, bachelor buttons and nasturtium. The bachelor buttons were out of control so I pruned a big bunch of them. The nasturtium I picked yesterday happened to be orange, and look great with the blue bachelor buttons and borage. I also have some lavender I'll probably bring in the next couple days. (Not WS lavender, lavender from a plant I've had for a few years.)

It's neat, being able to cut lots of stems. Like Bonnylynn, I was out of state when lots of mine were in full bloom. And the rain didn't help - seemed to be constant whenever I was home (I work full time), and then with the wind destroyed the blooms on my peonies. The roses opened while I was away, and many petals on ground when I found them opened up. But I've been having "bouquets" on my desk at work, as well as at home, since the daff's were in full bloom. We had a weather threaten to kill anything that wasn't brot indoors, so cut off some of the daff's. Was sure surprised when many others opened nice outdoors within a week. Tulips gone now, but had many. And the azalea bushes - wow! This year had LOTS of blooms, and cut some from stems "sticking out" from the rest of the bush. They mixed well with other things. This year also had some alyssum basket-of-gold (a perennial) bloom (winter sowed last year). Lots of blooms brot in to work. Right now I have a mixture: sweet wm., penstemen, bachelor button (w/s)(first bloom this year - but lots more buds about to open); alyssum - white (w/s), burgundy gaillardia (w/s last yr), and a cream color iris. Cut the iris on way to car to get to work this morning, and added to the others already on my desk.
