Painting and wrapping tree trunks

I was wondering how high up I need to paint my fruit tree trunks. Saturday, I painted several of my "baby" fruit trees up to the lower branches and on the lower branches for a few inches.

Then, another question that I have is, I wrapped my fruit tree trunks over the white paint a couple of feet to protect them from rabbits. The wrap is for wrapping trunks but it's black. Do you think this will be ok in the hot summer months or will it cause things to heat up more.

I used burlap last year for several trees but I need to redo it because it is sagging on some trees so I thought I would try this other stuff.
