Wintersow Apple Seeds?

Hi, I'm new to wintersowing (discovered it late this winter, so only tried tomatoes, but they've sprouted!) and am looking up information for what kinds of seeds I can try out this winter.

I saved some seeds from an apple (I know they won't grow true, but thought it'd be a fun project to try), and when I was looking up info on planting the seeds, I saw lots of reccomendations for storing the seeds in the refrigerator for any where between 90 days and 3 months before planting. I would think that this makes apple seeds a good candidate for winter sowing, but since I'm new at this I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Also, has anyone ever tried it? Thanks!
