I am new to rooting cuttings. I slowly transistioned my cuttings from 70/30 perlite /soil mix. This was my process from start to finish. Maybe you can figure out something for yourselves. 1) rooted in water or sphagnum moss 2) Put in soil mix of 70% perlite/ 30% pro-MIX soil 3) put in bins with 100% humidity 4) Once rooted to my liking, transferred to 50/50 mix of same components in 1 gal pots. 5) Put pots near North facing window out of direct light. used humidifier to raise humidity level in room to 90-100% 6) Over the course of a week, slowly lowered the humidity in room to normal levels by turning humidifier on and off at different intervals 7 Once in room for a day or two at normal levels, move to room with south facing light 8) Transfer outside to shade to acclimate outside, slowly acclimate to light I still have lost some cuttings due to poor root development. At least 2/3 have survived to this point, which is outside in shade. Good luck! I'm new to this so take it with a grain of salt.

First of all, I'm a convicted plant drowner. That said, I suspect it may need to be a little wetter since it was newly planted. That MG shrub and tree soil won't hold moisture like the native clay around/under it. THAT is where I usually get into trouble. The native clay will hold water like a jug, so be careful to not let it stand in water. Your raised bed should help a lot. I'd stay away from the regular fertilizer for a while, too, until it gets its roots established. Root stimulator would be a good choice - follow label instructions.

Be careful NOT to over-water, if that plants aren't turning different colors and just seem limp it's from over-watering. Just give them time and see what happens. But try to not water them for a couple of days.

I never fertilize a plant that shows any signs of stress. On newly planted ones, I wait until it has really settled in and has new shoots all over it. Then for the entire first season I use a liquid fertilizer (seaweed or fish emulsion or alfalfa tea). When roses have been in the ground a year, I use Mills Magic or one of the Tones (Rose Tone, Plant Tone, Holly Tone) . These are granular products that are sprinkled around the drip line and lightly scratched into the soil. I have to keep an eye on the dogs as they find these organics delicious and want to lick them off the soil! I often grow new roses in a pot for up to six months, especially if they were small or wimpy when purchased. I add extra perlite and ground bark to the potting mix to ensure good drainage. I never water a pot without lifting it to see how it feels; it is easy to overwater potted roses esp. if the rose is still very small.
