I find photo sites rather confusing.There is so much variations under the same name and flowers having different names look alike.
I can not appriciate the difference in US National Arboretum listed HERCULES and HERMITAGE.

ThereâÂÂs a German-language site that IâÂÂve used (http://ritterstern.de). The âÂÂHybridenâ link will get you to an alphabetical listing of cultivars, with links to (very small) images of each. Also helpful are the description of the cultivarsâ coloration (e.g., Ada-Jo is orange-red with fine white stripes; Ambiance is white with red stripes and a green heart; etc.). Obviously I have had some German, though IâÂÂm far from being proficient at the language. There are several on-line translators that can help, but here are some key words:

Farben = colors
rot = red
weiÃÂ = white
lila = purple
rosa = pink
grün = green
color names are often combined with other adjectives into larger words, like rosaroten (= pink red), hellgrünnen (= bright green), or feuerrot (= fire red); also, the ending of these words changes according to the noun they precede (e.g., rot and roten both = red)

feinen = fine
Striefen = stripes
gestreift = striped
Herz = heart
Saum = hem (as in border)
Stern = star
Punktierung und Maserung = puncture and grain
mit = with
Bemerkung = remark
gefüllt = literally full, but refers to double flowers
Blüten = blooms
mittelgroÃÂe = medium-large
sehr groÃÂe = very large
Blütenblätter = petals
Sorte = kind/type
südafrikanische = South African

You can also try companies that sell amaryllis (e.g., whiteflowerfarm.com or amaryllis.com), as they will have pictures of the varieties they sell.

For those who haven't tried the German site listed, don't let the language disuade you. Crazyforcorelli's basics help out with a very good site.

And in all these pictures, I still haven't seen my creamy-ish double with some orange pink brush work. The inner double petals stay closely ruffled and don't spread, like say Double Record.

I keep on searching.

I don't believe the amaryllis labelled Hercules on the Aboretum website is in fact a Hercules. See link below to pictures of many other Hercules - much pinker and without the white star than the Hercules on the Aboretum site.
