I'm a big Tamora fan too. How about Clair Renaissance, a shrub from Poulsen. Very fragrant and very healthy here in a very rainy summer. I've got Fryer's floribunda Day Breaker as well as his H.T. Sunset Celebration on order for this spring.

Carding Mill, another Austin, although not very fragrant, has been excellent for me in every other way. It's bloomed literally all the time, even in the hottest days of our very hot summer this year, is a nice shrub (which I couldn't say of my Tamora, which is gone because of that defect), and is blooming even now when nights are in the thirties. I'm not really a lover of apricot roses (although I love an apricot-pink like Abraham Darby) but Carding Mill is such a workhorse that I really have to admire it.

Take a good look at English Rose "Crown Princess Margarete. It is a bit slow to get going but oh so beautiful when in bloom!

Sunset Celebration is my most disease free H.T. Fragrant, beautiful blooms, excellent for cutting.

What about Heaven on EArth?
Tamora and most other Austin roses are not doing well for me without spray. Heaven on Earth is pretty, but I became so overwhelmed this year that I am not sure about how fast it reblooms.

We have consistently failed to control Westerland. I would call it orange rather than apricot. Our Apricot Nectar has not done well, but Prairie Sunrise seems to be a real winner. Is it apricot? I looked it up in HMF, and it looks like mine - almost a yellow.

I will be watching your post since this is a color that I also like.

'Lady Hillingdon' is a lovely apricot color.

break o day (brownell), mme. butterfly, arethusa, bishop darlington,jaune desprez,alchymist,breath of life,pensioner's voice,francesca,dixieland linda,mojave,belle epoque,buff beauty,mme. ravary,orange ruffels,caramella (kordes), dr. brownell,maigold,distant drums(blackberry-apricot??), that's what i have that might be considered apricot or hmf calls apricot.

Polka has color very similar to Tamora. Tamora is not that healthy here, Polka is at least comparable in health. Both defoliate from BS, but Polka keeps more leaves.

Ay Ay, the list is getting longer. Ruth & Patrick, thanks for mentioning Sunset Celebration. And Olga, that's encouraging about Polka-- I love the look of it. I love Lady H., which is a very, very pale yellow here; occ. the buds look apricot in the early morning. I've not seen Buff Beauty here; assume it would fade to, well, buff but I don't know! Len, I haven't grown Alchymist or Maigold in years, love them. Will check out the others-- you must LIKE this color!

Buff Beauty usually have different colored bloomes on it the same time, some are buff and some can be very bright, almost orange. I really love this rose. Lady Hillingdon colors are best in spring and fall, in summer it does fade to pale yellow. Still one of my favorite roses. I also love this color. Had Tamora for 6 years in my garden, but had to sparay it, so removed it as a move to no spray garden. The same with Polka. Still have Buff Beauty, Lady Hilingdon and Alchymist. They also get BS, but are too big to be removerd, they are backbones of my garden and LH and BB are bigger then 8x8 feet, almost impossible to dig out, even if I decide to do it. I will see how much they will decline w/o spraying, I know they are not resistant here, but will see.

Wild Ginger [Buck], Vesper, Medallion, Brandy, Nancy Reagan, Apricot Candy, Just Peachy [new this year, I have it on order], Norwich Castle, Meredith Bohls [Chamblees], Pearlie Mae, Evelyn, Anne Harkness, Apricot Queen, Apricot Silk, Good Golly, Tea Clipper, Lady Emma Hamilton, Cr. Princess Margareta, Aprikola are some I like.

barbara, probably not much more than any other color, I'm sure pink probably holds the title for the most roses of a particular color, but i think it's more to do with having too many roses and subconsciously maybe trying to balance the colors as much as i try to balance the classes.
It looks like alameda just might though,lol! (love apricots)

Tamora just hasn't done all that well for me (here in So Cal) -- the specimen I have seems to produce only thorns, so I'm replacing her with Lady Hillingdon.

I say "Yea" to Sunset Celebration and Prairie Sunrise. PS here is definitely Apricot. Blooms nicely and is very fruity-fragrant. Medallion is spectacular if it manages to avoid rain as the buds open, as it is very prone to spotting; a very intriguing shade of fleshy peach. My absolute favorite apricot cutting rose is Valencia, but it is definitely golden-apricot more that straight apricot. Mine was a lanky grower. If you want this one bushy, it helps to get it grafted onto fortuniana rootstock. The mini-flora Double Gold is also golden-apricot; you can get it from Nor'East. A tiny little plant with relatively big blooms; they're gorgeous and moderately fragrant. I just got (2 months ago) a baby Apricot Twist from Heirloom Roses. This is a mini. Definitely Apricot, with blooms that fade, but pleasantly so, and hold their form for the longest time. A little fragrant too. Very nice.

What about Belle Story; I've seen it here locally covered in blooms.

Another vote for Prairie Sunrise.

Pat from RU recommends Carding Mill, but I hesitate to add any more 'intensive care' roses which DA's seem to be. So I'm leaning towards the Bucks-- Prairie Sunrise, Winter Sunset, and Folksinger. Close behind those-- Apricot Nectar. Then (dunno if I want to try growing HT's here) Medallion, Sunset Celebration. And based on breeding-- Heaven on Earth. I need to get down to the Wilson, NC Rose Garden where hopefully I can see some of these roses in person! I've really had fun looking up all the roses mentioned here. Thanks!

I LOVE apricot roses, and want to add my 2 cents. Favorites are Apricot Nectar, Lady H., Brandy (wish it bloomed more), Bronze Star, Sunset Celebration (getting a couple more plants), and all the aforementioned Austins (except Belle Story, which is pink for me). Got rid of Medallion due to extreme blackspot and Marilyn Monroe due to extreme thorniness and total lack of fragrance. But one of my favorites that I don't see mentioned to this point is Jema. What a beauty, and a bloomin' fool to boot!

Pearlie Mae is another light apricot from Buck. Re Folksinger, which I have a young plant of, I saw a group of them blooming at Chamblees the last time I was there and they were a gorgeous shade of apricot. Outstanding! I think this rose would be wonderful planted in a group - lots of blooms and a gorgeous shade of apricot. I think my very favorite, if I had to pick one [and apricot is my favorite color rose] would be Fragrant Apricot. Have ordered another one for this year....

I'm thinking about trying Folksinger as I hear such good things about it, but right now my fave is Winter Sunset. Blooms a great deal and good bs resistance here.

For a single, I like Mrs. Oakley Fisher, but she does fade badly and quickly. But for a brief period, she is lovely! As the bush gets older I am hoping it will be so bloomiferous that she will be like Contessa du Cayla, so full of blooms that I won't care about the fading.

What fun, reading all the comments on apricot roses! Now I have Folksinger and Winter Sunset on order from Countryside. So happy for feedback about Prairie Sunrise, Fragrant Apricot, Apricot Nectar, Sunset Celebration-- I still want those. This isn't the easiest color to grow no-spray but I want to try.

Royal Sunset is a wonderful rose. Fragrant, disease-resistant and vigorous. I planted one on a trellis in the shade to climb about 10 feet up to a sunny deck, and sold the house 6 years later. It was all over the deck rails and I'd had to trim it back to control it the last 3 years I lived there. (This was in the Bay Area, zone 9, foggy summers.)

May I add a suggestion for Buff Beauty? This is a semi-older rose. :) Also climbs or can be pruned into a shrub. Fragrant, disease-resistant, extremely easy to grow. Pale apricot. Looks gorgeous in the vase with darker apricots and blends. This one, I replanted when I moved to Portland, OR, and it is starting to fill in on the fence. Portland has a shorter growing season with winter dieback, so it hasn't filled in as fast, but it's doing fine.

Both of these are VERY fragrant, by the way.

I basically don't spray and am a very inconsistent gardener, so if it can live through me it can probably live through most people on this forum.

Hey Greta, I've grown both these climbers you mention-- wish I had room for them here but I have to be patient and wait til we move. Both are lovely and mmmm I liked their fragrance too.

Sweet Juliet is an older peachy/apricot Austin you don't hear much about but I love her. She is more resistant than Tamora and has a wonderful, strong tea fragrance.
