Here's a few more pics. Some are from today. I have a group shot of Reggae, Tango, La Paz, and Inca. It is amazing how closely they resemble eachother. Reggae is more peachy, Tango is a little more pinky colored and has slightly frilly edging, La Paz is a little smaller than the rest (but this may be because it just opened today and may still need to open a little more), and Inca is a little more reddish in color. Do you think any of them may be mislabels since they look almost exactly alike?

Strange, but I was thinking the same thing. My cybisters that are out right now are new bulbs this season, so I'm thinking that perhaps they may be stunted or something. Seems they all look alike. Is it possible for you to make the pictures larger next time?

Frank gave me a suggestion on resizing the pics, which I did. I guess it didn't work. Do you know how to make the pics larger?

Sorry to joke about it but I did not really plant Lima beans in my garden this year! I did plant Blue lake pole beans, and some other variety I don't remember! I have not checked the bean plants for any butterfly activity- thanks for the reminder. I have many, many,many, monarch eggs. I have up to 4 adults in the yard all day long as soon as the air temps warm up in the morning. And have had at least three visits from a Queen mama judging front the different sets of caterpillars I have run across.

I enjoyed your pics mbug..my mini collection is mini lol..I'm going to buy a Fire and Ice when I see it again..I didn't buy one yet because I go for solids in my woodland especially blue..Fire and Ice seemed too dramatic..but now knowing that it's a smaller hosta it sounds more appealing to me..

My favorite photo of these is Clown Parade and those lilies! You do have a wonderful clump of Clown Parade. Endless Beauty was always splotchy for me, but I think you could get some good seedlings out of it that likely would not splotch. You should put Desperado Love on the thread about Daylilies That Have Beat the Odds. I don't think mine, which is in a raised bed, is doing as well as yours. I love that speckled lily! I did a post last night on new seedlings which has never shown up. I hate to redo the whole thing. Maybe I forgot to fake spell $exy Samantha. Debra

Mantis, we are fenced in for my dogs. Here in suburbia we have no deer. There are cornfields within sight and we are a mile from a river. I wish the birds of prey would return and take care of the bunnies. We still see an occasional coyote in the late evening with our last trip outside with my dogs. I have 200 daylilies on a 1/4 acre lot. Sherry

First of all, thanks for sharing, Heather... they're all beautiful!

Second, I think quite a few of our modern day hybrids look alike, and not just the cybisters! I know many of them have slight differences, which allows for the different variety names, but some are close to being twins! Add in all the mislabels, and it's no wonder the whole hybrid family is confusing!

I run into photos on the web all the time that are not labeled correctly... I think the growers and suppliers have a moral obligation to try a little harder to get the right labels with the right bulbs... there are a lot of people out there growing bulbs that they think are named one thing, but in reality, they're something entirely different! It's not right!

That said, I think if you look closely, and you allow for the slight differences that are natural within a variety, and you also allow for the slight differences that environment can produce... well, it's not all that obvious always, but they are different.
