Hi! my name is Susan/taz56, I will be joining you

some times for imfo. I have been on GW a few years

now! I hang in the brug,seed,round robin and a few

others! I have several ams. red lion,pink diamond,

minerva,piquant,apple blossom, romance,and

stargazer! I recently ordered from beautiful gardens

off of e-bay, Elvas and Dancing Queen can't wait to

see them bloom! I have some more that are just lovely

they are doubles but I don't know there names and I

have some plain ones,don't know there names either!

So maybe you all could help me id them later! I don't

know much about growing the seeds so any suggestions

would help! Also when is the best time to transplant

the bulbs, I live in SE Ga. so mine stay in the ground

year round but I want to move some to a new bed! Well

I hope to make new friends here! I'm looking for new

seeds or bulbs! I have diffrent thing to trade! Hope

I haven't talk to much, hoping to hear from you all!

Welcome!! I've been on this list for just less than a year, and it's a great place to learn, laugh, and keep in touch with other Amaryllis (Hippi) lovers. Welcome Susan!

Welcome, Susan! If you love Hippeastrum bulbs, you've come to the right place! I've been a forum member for just over a year, and I love it here! The people are wonderful, generous, helpful, and just plain great folks! You'll like it here!

If you're willing to do a bit of reading, you'll also learn a lot here! The search feature will yield tons of great information on whatever part of culture you're interested in, and if you can't find something, we'll be happy to help!

It sounds like you already have a nice collection of bulbs started... and if you hang around with us, you'll most likely end up with way more bulbs than you actually need!

You can have engineered or solid wood in the kitchen without problem with adequate care. I had that and am definitively not the most tidy cook and never had problems. This said, you could also put tiles in the part in red (not wood like tile) and it could look good (it all depends of the tile and the general style of the house). I know it is not something people like here, but there was a Sara Richardson's show on DIY where she was doing her house and she did just that and it really look great. I worry about the situation for those living and gardening in Europe, with winter coming on and an iffy fuel situation for heating. Fingers crossed for a mild winter this year! bart, I'm so glad to see you posting as I remember that you had some health challenges when I was last here. I wish you all the best in every way. I know your rose garden is very challenging, and I hope you remember to take care of yourself first and foremost. I've learned that gardens can be very ephemeral, but one can always try again when things don't work out. Sheila, I'm so sorry that your irrigation system was giving you fits. They can be a challenge but are so necessary in the west. I'm glad that your roses are doing well in spite of this and everything else. The old roses are tough, in addition to being so beautiful

Hi Susan, and WELCOME!!! This is a great place to hang out. Lots of wonderful folks here, and there is tons of information, not to mention all the beautiful photography that gets posted. FYI, most of us here are highly addicted to amaryllis/hippeastrum, so it may be catching.

Hi Susan and welcome! Beware...these amazing bulbs are highly addictive and once you catch the addiction, there is no known cure...haha!

I would probably guess the best time to dig and divide would be spring after any frost when they start putting up new growth. There are others here in the lower states (Alabama and Florida and such) that have been growing them in the ground for a while that would be better suited to help in this area. I have trouble remembering who is who and where from without going back to look, so hopefully they might see this and offer some guidance.

Again, welcome Susan. This is a great group and we all have a great deal of fun talking and sharing info and photos!

I'm northern, zone 5b, so I'm no help for outdoor garden growing... all of my tender plants are grown indoors.

I am hoping to grab a few sale bulbs at Walmart for garden growing this year, though... I figure it can't be much different from growing Glads or Cannas, both which require fall digging and storing. If nothing else, they'll make a lovely addition to the perennial beds!
