Wow. I wish mine bloomed as dark as yours. Mine was almost white lime/cream.

Did you raise yours in lots of light? Mine were under the growlight while developing, then brought into the (dark) house when they were in bud. They were in front an east facing window but the weather was grey and dreary much of the time they were opening. I love their color and would not change a thing I did with them :-)

Ohhh I wish my L&L would bloom this year!! First off I would know for sure which one it is as the tags wore off all my last year bloomers!

Wow, Cindee... that is a lot of blooms! I just love it when they keep producing! Limona was a very good seed producer... it seems that the green/greenish varieties are very fertile!

Just ordered Lemon Lime from RC yesterday. Sure hope it's as pretty as yours. Had it once before, but think it was one that the "rain rot" got to. They just don't do well in NJ outside. As for the labels, I try . . . but, alas usually lose them. I'm just gonna try harder this year. Sure hope some of the old ones will bloom again. Have some nice bulbs. It will be like Christmas if they bloom because I won't know what they are. Will have to try to find the original invoice from when they were purchased - years ago.

This is so great! We can compare photos, cultivation and really improve the way we grow! We can unravel the hippeastrum mystery - together! Yeah.

Will be the middle of the summer before my L/L blooms since it was only ordered yesterday. It's cool in my little greenhouse, so nothing is doing much except the cymbidiums. They like it cold. A few of the Hippies are starting to sprout. However, they have grown roots in a very short time -- probably only a couple weeks. I tested a few of them, and they are really stuck fast! I plant mine very shallow, so it sure isn't the potting soil holding them. Can't wait! Can't wait! Can't wait!

I love cymbidiums and have one warmth tolerant one that has yet to bloom after two years - suppose it really would like it colder/longer.

Jody, My "Lemon and Lime" was how John Scheepers named it was a very large bloom. It was my first white-type and it blew me away. It was strongly chartreuse to the center and faded out to lemon then a cream at the tips. There was some conversation about the naming thing LEMON-LIME or LEMON AND LIME, last year. JS clearly named mine L&L. This plaant was prolific. No matter what I pollinated it with or who I shared it's pollen with it was success all the way! It bore 4 scapes I think of 4-5 flowers. Like non stop. I think I was just lucky. Hopefully it will bloom again this year!

"Lemon Lime" and "Lemon and Lime" must be two different plants! My Lemon LIme is a miniature and the flowers are probably less then 4" across. That could explain why mine are greener.And JSTropic, I did not have mine in Strong sunlight. I Had them only under grow lights and then was trying to make the point that they opened in rather dim light in the house, and that might be why they were so dark. They are a nice mint green now. WIll get the new photos into Photobucket and then share it with you. IT combines beautifully with Rembrant Van Rijn as you will see!

Here Lemon Lime is in about its 4th day and the color is mellowing. See how pretty it goes with my first Rembrant Van Rijn! What a lovely flower that is! THe pussywillows are local, picked at an old abandoned homestead locally and the heather is from my garden.

Hold the phone! Kitty, am I to understand that Cymbidiums can tolerate colder conditions than some other orchids?? I just love orchids, and have been trying to find a few types that will flourish in more northern indoor climes! My Phal is very unhappy with the environment I can provide, however, the Epidendrum I have is doing great! Dare I add a Cymbidium to my collection?

Lizalily - your arrangement is spectacular! Well-chosen vase partners, I must say! I have Limona, but not Lemon-Lime or Lemon & Lime... not only do I adore the color, but as Cindee says, the green flowers seem to be very prolific and very fertile!

Frank - I started with a list like yours... only too soon it became a two page "Wish List" with a "Must Have" category! It's almost three pages long now, and I've added a category comprised of "other amaryllis-like bulbs I need to get", which includes Nerine, Sprekelia, Scadoxus, Rhodophelia, Crinum, Lycoris, and so on... it doesn't end, I tell ya! It grows and extends into other lily type flowers! What an addiction!

Yes, cymbidiums love the cool. They vacation outdoors and get left out until we are about to have frost. They can actually take some freezing. The heat in the greenhouse went out a couple years back. A few spikes got hit, but the plants were fine. Have read that the cold sets the buds (spikes). Last fall, along about October, I found need to do some repotting and found that many of them already had spikes starting. Have several with blooms starting to open. Now, if I can ever get this Photobucket thing working in my brain, I'll post some pictures. Must warn you, though, cymbidiums can fill a wash tub if let go long enough, so space may be an issue for some. I started with ONE, but probably have near 20 now, plus all the other varieties.

I believe Lemon Lime is just a misspelling of Lemon & Lime. Even when we talk about it, we tend to leave out the &. It is just too troublesome to find it and stick it in there. So I guess, there is no real difference. Depending on growing conditions, this cultivar brings slightly larger or smaller flowers, but I would describe it between the size of Orange Souvereign and Charisma. Closer to Charisma's size is the average. That is just my thought of it.

Thanks for the information, Kitty... I'm off to research Cymbidiums a bit, and see some pictures so I can get an idea of size... it sounds like they actually might survive in my apartment! It also sounds like another addiction taking hold! This is all Cindee's fault! It started with photos of her gorgeous orchids, a few cuttings... and you know how it goes from there!
