Should young bulbs of 2005 be having babies?

My mother planted Fantastica seeds in the spring of 2005. I appropriated them and have been raising them since. Last fall (07) I cut them back and put them in the cold cellar. I brought them up about two weeks ago. They have all started to sprout new leaves. Sad to say I don't see any evidence of flowers yet. One can only hope....

I noticed that about 1/3 have babies sprouting leaves right beside the original bulb. Is this normal? Some have two or three offshoots.

I know I should leave them but will this slow the potential for blooms for the 05 bulbs?

Yes I would love to post pictures, haven't figured out how and my picture files are too big to upload. (sorry)
