The only info I can find is close to what you say: "roughly a foot a year", but there are some people saying its reached over twenty feet tall in ten years..... At the same time I have read that site conditions really can make or break growth. On shallow dry soils it apparently grows shorter wider and slower. On its prefered habitat (floodplains, which is why it can take wet feet in your yard) they grow taller more narrow and faster..... Maybe I just answered my own question? lol ==>>> yes.. you did ... how any given plant does ... in your little slice of heaven .. in your soil .. in your climate.. in your sun ... in your microclimate ..... with your winter... is frankly.. unanswerable ... except by your experience.. after the fact .... i would sum up your info ... to think it will grow at least one foot ... with potential of two ... what more specificity could there be.. with all the unknown variables??? grow the seeds.. have fun .. and if things dont work out in say.. a decade or two.. cut the tree down and get on with life ... just as you would with any underperforming annual or perennial ... too many peeps think that just because its a tree .. its not disposable if things dont work out.. the only real difference is the time scale ... are you really not going to have fun with a few seeds.. just because in 20 years it might not all work out .... ??? .. i think not.. go for it .. damn the facts and reality .. lol ... eh??? ken ps: you do know.. that canada is NOT kentucky.. right???? ,,,, lol ... and that most likely.. you wont get coffee off the tree ... welcome to GW ... you might want to try the tropical fruit forum ... or the fruit forum .. for this fruit tree ... also.. convert to the latin name ... which in this case.. i think.. happens to be mango ... lol ... and then flip to the IMAGES side... and look at representative pix ... i did it for you.. this time ... then go back to the WEB side.. and add something like: ANNUAL GROWTH RATE ... you you ought to get some idea of such ... most size estimates are at 10 years ... so multiply your annual growth rate.. etc ... for most trees ... they never really stop growing.. so just multiply by 20.. 30.. 40 years ... BUT!!!!! ... fruit production trees are horribly mangled thru pruning.. for the crop .. or such things as lower fruit for ease of picking ...... and also ... to increase sunshine in the interior ... so.. production trees... are never really allowed to get as tall..nor as wide... as they can ... i once went to the local orchard for you pick black cherries .. lol ... they seemed to have failed to mention ... the trees were 60 feet tall ... which is why they didnt pick them for retail .... good luck ken Here is a link that might be useful: link

I read this thread and kind of marvel. The effort people expend to grow plants in a hostile climate. I bought a $5 sago 40 years ago when I bought my house, it is over six feet tall The male flower is (like) two feet long, every year for at least the past 15 years. A flush consists of at least two dozen fronds , (or leaves) if you prefer. I have successfully raised and given away probably three dozen pups broken off from the parent plant. Most survive, maybe 80% but some don't. It gets cold here, we are at 1700 ft. elevation and freezes some years but I have never had a sago show damage from frost. Plumaria, that's another crap shoot, but the sagos do very well here. I have managed to keep twenty pups that are well established and in the ground. In other words, this climate is very agreeable for sagos and they are common all around here, seems like everybody has at least one? I'm not rubbing your nose in it here; I salute the effort to grow (what is almost a tropical), in a climate which is not suitable. Good luck. One thing I found out the hard way about is that moving them causes many of them to die off, and even the ones that survive are droopy for a while, obviously being stressed so the lesson I learned was that even if the seedlings come up very close together, they should never be transplanted until they are dormant in the fall, perhaps by November. I have also learned from another forum member that azomite is supposed to be good for them. Other than that, it seems like the best I can do is keep the weeds out, and water them if it gets too dry as it seems like they will only produce 1 or 2 leaves on their first year. It kind of sucks that the ones in this picture will be fully done growing for the year by the middle of April. Here is a link that might be useful:
