Built My Own Greenhouse/ Coldframe!

I decided that there was just not enough room for my trees in my coldframe (which is a major defense against squirrels who just yesterday killed one of my prized American Chestnut trees, a Sugar Maple, White Oak, and my only American Hophornbeam) and of course protects them by other means. So as I and all Winter Sowers like to recycle I took some ordinary things and made it into a wonderful functional structure! After all a scout is thrifty.

Here is what it is made from:

4 4' redwood boards that I salvaged from our old playset

10'x4' plastic sheeting from Lowes

4 Amur Honeysuckle (incredibly invasive) branches I cut out of the woods. Boiling water poured over them to make them more flexible.

hot glue

nails

staples

duct tape

Total Cost= $2.24

Thats right $2.24! The only thing I bought was the plastic sheeting. Everything else was already here.

Not only is it much larger than my other coldframe but it cost 97.76% less than my other one I got for my birthday.

And it sure does work! I'm quite happy!
