HMF says Bermuda's Anna Olivier is Etoile de Lyon
13 years ago
It was a shock to see that comment. I was dumbfounded, because I've never read that there was a confirmed identification or even any conjecture. Gee, I feel out of the loop. In the Australian Tea Rose Book they say they have seen EdL labeled Anna Olivier "elsewhere", that is, not in Australia & the US. I missed that or didn't make the connection. I did a search here for EdL and came up with Berndoodle's '20 Roses' thread in the Gallery in which Jerome posted that Cass' Anna Olivier looked like his EdL, even to the point of "finishing badly". Do I really have Etoile de Lyon? I've gotten so comfortable with Anna Olivier. My recollection is that Etoile de Lyon was a finicky rose, and that's why I didn't get her. She's fine here.
