John, I love how your scheff looks! I really like the thick trunk, thats what I'm trying to achive with mine. I want it to be bushy but I want the lower half to have a thick trunk so that its stays sturdy. Great Job! Pug, your mango tree looks great! It doesn't even look like the same plant! How long until you think you'll be eating yummy mangos? Housplant, I love maple trees, I bet your neighbors are very lush! As for my scheff, there hasn't been much change. No new growth after its burst of growth when i prunned. But the new growth in the photos above have grown about as big as the mature leaves! Its looking great! I'm just curious as to why there is no new growth. Possibly its dormante after the burst of growth and plus its winter so...you know how it goes. :) But if anyone has any other ideas as to why theres no new growth...shed a light! Ashley

Most wholesalers won't sell to individual accounts for many reasons, one of them being loyalty to the customers they supply on the wholesale level because it turns them into competitors. Secondly, it's the onsie/twosie issue. Wholesale accounts are usually non-taxable since they are for resale or for agricultural purposes. If you have a large number of accounts that are not subjected to sales taxes, making a few onsie/twosie retail sales isn't worth the acrobatics of what it takes to remit the taxes, so they don't do the sale. Your best bet is if you deal with a reputable independent local nursery and ask them when they do their orders to check their suppliers for that particular tree and if they don't have minimums on it order it for you. Do it early and I mean early if you want it for next spring. My orders were always in by August the year prior and you'd already be too late. I once succumbed to planting a novelty Bradford. I was blessed to have the power company come by in their crews and take it out before it ever reached maturity. Their crew chief was really savvy last year and when I mentioned the word Bradford, and how close it was to the lines he obliged. We're dealing with the seedlings from it now and having round-up parties. I don't know if I'd enable you to find one or not. ;-)

Hi. Mango trees are very susceptible to bark fungus. If this is not controlled, all the shoots will come to nothing. I used to grow mangoes up on the Tropic of Capricorn with very little problem except the dreaded bark fungus which required treating with Lime-sulpher emulsion. They were Bowen Special actually. Living in Sydney now I have a Bowen in the back yard that did NOTHING for twelve years, so, having no emulsion I diluted the Lime-sulpher liquid from Bunnings and painted it on the bark. 120 mangoes within months. This is a recurring problem after a wet and the possums are welcome to their share.

What I've found with crape myrtles is that color is subjective, and all resources use different color names to describe the various/numerous shades of pink or red (it's confusingly maddening).
