Purchasing roses

I'm trying to find Golden Celebration to purchase - I have always purchased through J&P and Heirloom Roses. Heirloom doesn't have it and J&P sold out. Can anyone recommend other reputable organizations (virus free, etc.) to check into?

I've ordered from David Austin (http://www.davidaustinroses.com). It's been awhile (2002) but I was happy with the order. Most of what I ordered from him that year are gone (mostly due to BS) but I still have (and enjoy) Heritage and James Galway.

GC was one I ordered. I don't know why I did because I don't really like yellow. It black spotted too much so I got rid of it in the third or fourth season.

Companies I've ordered from with satification: Vintage, Heirloom, Uncommon Rose, Antique Rose Emporium. This year I also ordered from Roses Unlimited. I've also ordered from Edmund's but not since they've been sold. I do strongly prefer own-root roses to bare-root grafted or budded roses. I find that though you have to be more patient, the end result is a stonger, healthier rose with a much longer life span that far outweighs the instant gratification. For miniatures I will mostly order from NorEast and Bridges. NorEast sends bigger plants. Bridges are smaller, but just as strong. Occasionally I'll order from other suppliers when they have something I want that NorEast or Bridges doesn't carry. This year I'm also ordering from Almost Heaven becausethey have Rachel. I'll let you know what I think of this supplier when my new babies come.

I think I've bought from virtually every online rose seller..lol...its an addiction that has resulted in over 100 rose bushes. These are my favorites: For Container Roses... 1)Chamblee's Rose Nursery: They have low prices, their plants come in trade gallons, and are very healthy 2)High Country Roses:Priced fair, 1 qt containers, quick shipping, healthy 3)Rogue Valley Roses: Excellent selection. Sells all roses in band size containers (3x3x6) and if you buy for roses you get to choose a free rose and get a bonus mystery rose! Bareroot: All these are about the same price, and I've never had a rose from them fail... 1)Spring Valley Roses: all are own root 2)Jackson & Perkins / Wayside Gardens: I've always rec'd large, healthy plants...mostly grafted though...which I'm not a big fan off. Also, I know that J&P has all their roses on clearence right now! Good luck!

I just bought Camraba, an HT, sitting all by itself looking still healthy and Home Depot. I took it home and planted it in the garden, watering it thoroughly. It's doing fine and I believe it will be fine. I often do this with no problems at overwintering. I use my unattended garden plot for the winter nursery. I have a fence around it to dispurse the wind as it blows from west to east. This is a fine place to overwinter the roses. I plant them in, as if they were to stay there and give them some very good mulch and compost to keep their roots safe and warm. They survive quite well for me. Then in the spring I place them where they are to live. Not enough time goes by for the roots to set. I just want them heeled in for the winter. I don't see a clown rose in helpmefind. I do see Rodeo Clown which is a floribunda, but it says it is also known as George Burns!

In a climate where blackspot isn't a problem, Golden Celebration's lovely.
It's not troubled by mildew or rust, and very little by anthracnose or cercospora, and the fragrance is terrific.

You can get it budded onto Multiflora from Pickering Nursery in Canada. I have an order of Austins coming from then in March.

I have a GC from David Austin Roses and I also have an own-root one from Heirloom Roses. Both have them in stock as of a moment ago, I just checked both websites.

I bought mine at Costco a few years ago and have seen them at HD occasionally in the past.

LORDY DON'T BUY FROM MICHIGAN BULB!! I have a posting on my horror story with that sorry excuse for a plant distributor.
