I'm doing 3 20" x 20" windows behind the bed higher up. They will be a tryptic stained glass. I can't believe I didn't consider stained glass. I LOVE stained glass ... my husband adores it too. I have some leaded glass in my current house, but no stained glass. I consider stained glass one of those things that exists outside of trends ... never really "out" ... I've always loved it and am planning to have stained glass light fixtures in the kitchen / over the dining table. But could I have stained glass over the bed with NO window treatment ... and drapes on the windows /doors to the sides of the bed? It'll be a very small master, and I'm iffy about mixing window treatments. Both of the pictures you included appeal to me ... perhaps the modern one appeals most because I have in mind a very simple, clean design for the bedroom and your picture is VERY LIKE my thoughts (though I'm more traditional in general, and that'll be reflected in the main living areas). But I think I do like the three windows better than one large one. I LOVE the concept of bed-tucked-into-niche that you're using in your bedroom ... seems cozy ... but I don't want to be tied into maintaining a king-sized bed forever. how would the different window options impact the exterior? A very good question, and the answer is, Very Little. The master bedroom will be on the side of the house ... set in a little bump-out like the grey bump-out to the left of this house (not our actual plan, just an example picked from the internet). So, the windows to the left of the bed will face the front of the house, but the windows over the bed will be to the side of the house ... they won't need to match up with the upstairs bedroom windows above. Thanks for your feedback, all. I'm turning it over and over in my mind, still rather undecided. In the long run, this is a small detail ... but I can obsess over such things.

Perfect set up for this example I came across years ago and love their solution. Color blocking. The door is asymmetrical, but by using paint and art, they made the room feel very balanced. Here I whited out the color blocking to see what they were working with... And here was their solution using color and art...

In my very humble opinion... I would suggest painting the Ceiling the same color as your surrounding walls, by doing this it will taKe away from all the angles and not drawing more attention to that ceiling... I would paint that wall and get some drapes in the same color, ( you don’t want to add more to make it stand out) add two pendant lights above each night Stand, you need all the space on those night stands and the lamps are taking up valuable real estate. Like this... don’t. Mind my rough drawing...

This is how the previous owners had the room configured, but we’ve tried every arrangement with the bed. It won’t fit on the wall where the bed used to be, as their bed was a queen and ours is a king. We are stuck in this spot. The curtain idea is interesting! One possible issue we’d run into with that is the door to the closet we have on the right side of the bed.
