Need a few plant I.D.s from Kauai...have no guides...I'm lost!
Comments (4)1. What's growing nearby ; ) 2. Thunbergia Erecta 3. Thought it might be COG myself but the throat markings are wrong, i think. I'll say Allamanda Cathartica, probably 'Henderson'. Really more a vine than a shrub but can be pruned into a shrubby mound. 4. Allamanda Shotti-Smaller flowers, shrubbier habit. 5. Agree with John 6. Jatropha i think, euphorbiaceae family 7. Has this flowered? Do you have a picture? 8. Is it fragrant? Looks a little little like H. Arnottianus but the colors seem too vibrant and the leaves don't look right. Where'd you get it? If it came from a big box store in a 6" pot you might want to search the Monrovia or Proven Winners website for an id. 9. & 10. i don't know ixora myself but i'd be suprised if they can be idenified by flower color alone. Maybe someone else can help you out if you know what size the bushes grow to? 11.& 12. Psittacorum Heliconias-sometimes called Parrot Heliconia. The orange one is the common one. Lots of selected color forms, the yellow one could be 'Sassy' or 'Princess Di'. Horribly invasive. 13. Looks like a Stricta, maybe Dwarf Jamaican? Should have a dark red midrib if so. Not too aggressive, at least not in my garden where it gets to less than 2 feet tall and blooms pretty much year round. i've seen it get to 4' tall in some other locations....See MoreHAVE: Have a few and looking for a few . . .

Comments (22)I have red oak flooring throughout my house. Refinished all of it and installed new red oak in my kitchen during remodel. It's all finished with three coats of Original Waterlox, a tung oil with some additives. It finishes and seals. Is waterproof and really easy to touch up. It's been throughout my house for eight years with no sign of wear. In kitchen for two -- looks beautiful. Product creates a soft, warm, natural glow. Not high gloss (although I think they have a high gloss product) and definitely not "plastic" looking. We DIY-ed it all. Rented a drum sander for main floor. I used a good Porter Cable belt sander on the kitchen floor -- the new red oak sanded easily and it's not a large room. Waterlox is easy to apply, easy to clean up. Very DIY friendly. (You might be able to save a chunk of moola and do this yourself....) Best of all, it looks fantastic! Good luck!...See MoreI'm a few crayons shy of a box - and what I do have are broken
Comments (7)Two things jumped out. One, you love the Raspberry Truffle and two you mention your cherry woods. I would direct you to greens. Green would do the most in helping to further enhance the Raspberry and will help feature the cherry items. If you select the right green, it won't look or feel Christmas-y. Raspberry Truffle is a versatile red, cherry wood tones are usually easy to mesh with wall color. Braided rug could be a different story. You do not HAVE to PULL a color directly from the rug for a wall color. Actually it's best if wall colors do not have a specific, in-your-face obvious point of origination. But, having the rug before you choose the green for the wall color could make things a lot easier for you to put together a cohesive, harmonizing palette. Good luck to you and your boys. :-)...See MoreEmbothrium
