Thank you both for the replies! A big ugh to carpet beetles though...I just read about them online and I can't say I'm happy with them being in the house here. Sounds like I need to do some cleaning and see if that gets rid of them and if not, maybe I need to call someone *grumbles* Wonder where they came in from?

This answer is way late, but if you know the common names of the plants then just do a search with that and you should be able to find the scientific names.

Well beets should be very easy to ID as they should have a very distinct leaves, something like they do when larger. Most spinach also have a crinkled leaf without the reddish veins.
