How to ask for seed: The Plan

You guys have inspired me. I had no idea hostas could be started from seed until this forum. Now I have to figure out how to ask for seeds. There are master gardeners who live about a mile from my house. They have the most unbelievable collection of hostas in every shape and size. I want to ask them for some seeds therefore I must construct a plan now so that it is in full swing when those seeds ripen.

The Plan:

1. Start walking the dog past there house.

2. Smile at them if they are in the yard.

3. Comment how beautiful their garden looks.

4. Reintroduce myself (I toured their garden once with my garden club.)

5. Ask question about ______ plant/flower in the front yard (hostas are in the back).

6. Strike up a conversation about winter sowing.

7. Ask if they have ever started hostas from seed.

8. Ask if they could save me some seeds from their hostas

I think this plan could work! The best (or worst if you are lazy like me) part of the plan is they live a mile away. That means a minimum of 2 mile walk. Looks like I (and the dog) will finally be getting the exercise I (we) so desperately need. I am definitely going to drop some pounds!

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to improve The Plan?

Thanks,

Lisa
