Roses "A"
Comments (37)I havenâÂÂt been over to the gallery much this year and didnâÂÂt realize I was missing the alphabet. IâÂÂm enjoying catching up. Love everyoneâÂÂs A pics! Archduke Charles (new for me this year and already a favorite) AnnaâÂÂs Promise (got her late this year, but seems like sheâÂÂs going to be a good one) Arethusa (Second year with this china, but so far doesn't hold up to our heat/humidity. Going to give her another year to try to adapt, but doubt sheâÂÂs going to stay. Lots of blooms, but they fry in less than a day here) Aloha (mystery rose that forum members helped IDâ¦new late this year, but really loving it so far) Apricot Drift (great landscape rose here)...See MorePurple and Orange roses?
Comments (45)Thank you Gillian. Oh my yes! You understand! lol My flower snob can certainly be difficult. Today he's been super busy at work, but the few times I've gotten to talk to him he's mentioned twice tearing out all of our KnockOuts and putting "real" or "better" roses there. :face palm: Ugh! First of all at least 7 of those KnockOuts are taller than I am. There's no way I can get them out by myself when I can barely prune them without them eating me alive. I told him he will just have to build another flower bed. Hmpf! Btw, he's a 6'3" former high school football player who turned down a college football full-ride scholarship to serve in the Navy as a nuc for almost 10 years. Our daughters and I uuuusually only call him a flower snob around each other so we don't embarrass him too much in front of his buddies. ;-)...See MoreDownton Abbey Rose: Anna's Promise
Comments (15)Hi Manasi, I agree Anna's Promise is not a "round" bush. My original 6 posted above shot up straight, pretty much like a grandiflora. They have nice foliage though. This year I got 4 Easy Does it. They do look like Anna's Promise but with 3 differences. First, leaves on Anna's are a darker green. Second is that Easy Does it does not grow like a grandiflora but grow more round, more like a floribunda. Third, my Easy Does it are still quite short now and no more than 2 feet tall at this point (planted in early February this year), but Anna's Promise shot up to > 5 feet within the first year and this year it is certainly going to be even taller. I love orange roses!...See MoreAnna's Promise winter die-back
Comments (6)The same thing happened with our Anna’s Promise. Im pretty sure she’s a goner. She was so pretty last fall; I feel your pain. :-( We also appear to have lost 1 Lady Shallot, 1 Midnight Blue, and our potted Koko Loko. The last one I really don’t understand because it spent the winter in its pot in the greenhouse. Im keeping a close eye on Day Breaker too, but it doesn’t seem likely. I’m giving all of them plenty of time to try to turn around. Probably won’t plant anything new in their spots until next year. So maybe. Fingers crossed. I feel like we did ok as newbies getting so many babies through the winter. Trying to stay positive. :-)...See Moreboncrow66
