Lyda Rose fits that bill for me, it seems to have all 3.

Macy's Pride is the best shrub I've ever had. It is never out of bloom. It's the first to start blooming in the spring & the last to stop in the fall. It is a showstopper in my garden. It resistance to disease is very good. Not heavily fragrant, but there is some.

My favorite is Mutabilis, a china rose with single flowers that change color from salmon to deep pink. It's a large, gorgeous bush, very healthy in my climate and no-spray garden, and pretty well a continuous bloomer. It's an enchanting rose for a warm, dry climate, and can get quite large.

Cocktail may be my favorite disease-resistant shrub rose, but my climate is very different from yours.

Since you live in Pennsylvania, you will want suggestions for roses that are winter-hardy.

I planted a couple of Lyda Rose plants this past Spring and they are doing just GREAT, I do want to add that another bonus is that they are thornless. I had a Ballerina that had a VERY similar looking bloom to Lyda, but it had LOTS of thorns, really wasn't fragrant, and also had lots of blackspot here. It's long gone...

Easy care all summer show, try 'Knock Out'. Not my idea of a rose, more a flowering shrub that is technically a rose, but excellent disease resistance, vigor, and constant bloom--can't beat it.

The favorite right now in my garden is 'Cinco de Mayo'. Some may not like the color, so that may or may not be an issue with you.

My Cinco has bushed out beautifully, blooms constantly, is disease resistant, but not sure it has a fragrance. DH keeps telling me "that rose that has that funny name is really pretty!" You can tell he's not a rose person, so if he's impressed, you know it's impressive! lol

Thanks all for your suggestions! Barb, besides the thorny difference in lyda rose to ballerina, which blooms more consistantly? I think i would like either of these, but i cant get a review for constant blooms online. I dont mind treating for blackspot. I like the single blooms of these. I like that ballerina may get bigger, which would look nice and cover my 4ft fence.However the fragrance of lyda sounds wonderful! Help! :)

I don't have experience with Ballerina but I doubt you would be disappointed with the size or fragrance of Lyda. I bought mine as a band from Heirloom several years ago and it is typically 8' with a very pleasant fragrance for me. I've got it trained against a fence, here's an older pic of her I posted a while back for someone else.....

I can't get any rebloom on Lyda :( But Flower Girl just doesn't stop and would fit better in a container.

That's a drag, mine goes all season and is blooming as we speak. But then, mine isn't thornless but I'll gladly take the trade-off :-)

Two shrubs that do well for me are:
Heritage by DA - just about constantly blooming, although the blooms blow quickly but there are usually new ones to follow. It is a nicely fragrant shrub.
Carefree Wonder is a bloom machine but not really fragrant. Both are large shrubs - 6' and up. Both get some BS but seem to get better with age.

Brilliant Pink Iceberg is my favorite. Good disease resitant bloom machine for me.

Rose de Rescht, without a doubt. This OGR is the prettiest shrub of any rose in my yard. Dense, deep blue green foliage sprinkled with brilliant pinky-purple blooms all summer. Smells GREAT. No disease and no spray. If I could have only 1 rose, this one might just be it.

Sorry...I can't really compare rebloom with Ballerina and Lyda Rose, as my Lydas are brand new this year. I will say that even though they are babies, they've had blooms ever since they arrived this past Spring. I have them both in part shade, so I know they won't have as much bloom as they would in full sun. I have a Renae ordered for next Spring, as fell in love with her, too. I'm just concerned about hardiness here. Time will tell with that baby... Barb

Another thought...you might check out a couple of others that I have as babies...Betty Prior and Bonica. I loved the photos of both and, from what I've read, LOTS of bloom on both. Jump on Help Me Find and check out the photos, ratings and reviews. I always like to check that out! You could also do an advanced search there and zero in on the traits that you are seeking, and see what that little "treasure hunt" produces for you. Have fun!! Barb

Without a doubt, Belinda's Dream.

Belinda's Dream and Earthsong are high on my list of favorite roses. They both are reputed to be quite cold weather tolerant as well.

I have 3 shrub roses tied for 'first-place-favorite' status: David Austin's Heritage, Jude the Obscure, and Buck's Quietness. Jude and Heritage are wonderfully fragrant and all three are healthy and great rebloomers for me. Out of about 180 roses these are my favorites.

Best overall for me is heritage. Not too big, not to small, disease resistant, no thorns, and produces orange hips.

I agree ---LydaRose has been blooming constantly and is very fragrant---It is a race between Lyda Rose and Clair Matin----if you like singles they are both great

Since all of you are putting up pictures of your favorites, I thought I would add some pictures I took yesterday of Belinda's Dream in my yard. This rose hasn't had any spraying at all this year and still looks fabulous. Gets these flushes of bloom from spring to late fall for me. Note: the flowers are wonderfully fragrant too.
