Is this a rose? If yes, can you ID it.
Comments (3)Definitely a rose, and I'm inclined to think of oriental origins though the shot isn't much to go on. Can you say where you found it, and if possible post more pictures? Descriptions of size and habit (shrub or climber, lax or stiffly upright) of plant, flower scent, reflowering or not, hips set or not, photos showing details of leaves, buds, and prickles, are all useful. Comments (10)Thank you all for your sweet comments. OA, I'm glad you like the tablecloth. The styles have changed over the years, but like the vintage ones best. My DGD found several of these pieces at a yard sale. I don't have any others. Punk, I got the tea pot at a ts last year for our Library's Spring Tea, unfortunately, it developed a crack so I used a juice glass inside to hold the flowers. These roses are so pretty they look pink in the pictures but have a lavender hue in real life. Jane, the tablecloth is still bright because it was too short for my table and was seldom used. Party I love depression glass too. Thanks again everyone I'm glad you liked the table. Nana...See MoreYes, tea roses will grow in the PNW!
Comments (65)I suspect you're right, Jeri - the General seems to love water. Last year an emitter on the drip irrigation system blew off next to him, so he was treated to a flood of water. He responded by blooming and growing heavier and faster than any other rose I've seen. I'm not sure it would have been good for him in the long run, and I'm glad I eventually noticed the waste of water, but it was interesting to see his reaction to it. His petals are also thick enough to stand up to our cool temperatures and heavy rains in the spring and fall. And for those of you who have a smaller garden - like me - I can attest that he bounces back quickly (and with good form) after heavy pruning. I can't post without sharing pictures, but I apologize for my phone's inability to capture all of the subtle colors in his blooms....See MoreFragrant roses by Will Radler, the Kock Out guy, yes indeed there are!
