I'll go ahead & bump this off the top.

I didn't get much of a response on other boards, either. Not very many nurseries seem to grow it, perhaps because of its rather insignificant, white bloom or maybe the reason could be that its not the easiest plant to grow... as some claim it doesn't do well in summer heat. I'm still intrigued by its unique foliage & may give it a try.

I need your help. I'm wondering why not my new Luxurans is growing. New buds have come but they become dry and dropped. There are two leaves only remain.
I love Luxurarians and bought two months ago that is one foot hight and I potted into a bigger pot, watering almost every other day.
My apartment is directed to east and geting morning sun trough shade filtered windowpane. I live in zone #10 San Diego.
I thought Luxurians is a parfect house plant for me.
I'm now trying to spray water several times a day and more new buds come but they never grow.
Please some advices. Thank you.

Annie's Annuals in Richmond, CA also sells them, but their shipping can be steep outside the West coast unless you buy a lot of stuff (but all their stuff is good...). Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, sells them for a good price at their monthly sales (next one is Saturday at 10:00 A.M.), but they typically sell just one, I think. Try Lotusland for some of the biggest leaves ever. Other giants are nelumbiifolia (one in Miami's Fairchild Tropical gardens in the conservatory were probably 24 inches across), Selph's Mahogany, Maggie Nodal, Challenger (very large), parviflora (do a web search for it in Ecuador), popenoi, Red Umbo, and many more. Paul Hernandez does get very large. I've read that Mrs. Fred T. Scripps does too. Another one I've seen on line but doesn't seem to be in the trade is baccata which is on some small island off the west coast of Africa (Sao Tome?) and if you can believe the review is a true giant among giants.

Michael1846, I was about to contact you to see how you wanted things shipped, but I can't find an email address. If for some reason there are plant(s) you don't want, I can offer them to the others who guessed. Toni, I didn't answer your question about where I got the plant. It was from a very small (but extremely nice) retail nursery in Santa Cruz called DIG Gardens. It's fairly close to the downtown area in Santa Cruz. The wholesaler, I believe, was Monterey Bay Nursery. The plant is now carried by several wholesalers in California, and can usually be found at the better nurseries in the San Francisco Bay Area. Carol, I'm hoping it will put on a nice show when it blooms. The individual flowers are pretty small, but the overall effect is nice. Below is a much shorter plant in bloom at Annie's Annuals. I don't know that there are seeds of Lee's luxurians or Stewart's luxurians. The form I am (trying to) grow is from seeds of the species, bought from someone in Australia, and if I lose this one there are plenty to re-start. I think one of the two chance seedlings was sold to you, remember how disappointed you were in the look? Well, it's been a long time. I am growing in Jiffy Mix now. I don't know how Lee's and Stewart's differ, probably don't have the thin leaves or maybe fewer of them and thicker.
