Some roses difficult to propagate-any ideas?

I took about 60 cuttings this year. I had some old rooting compound I used-first mistake. I began in the July heat-that would be the second. What I'm finding is the roses I want to root the worst are the toughest-primarily albas and centifolias like alba Maxima. Alba maxima has rotted off twice now-I have one left.

Konigen von Danemark looks pretty sick, too.

My yield so far is 4 Bleu Magenta (I didn't want any), 3 Therese Bugnet (She's already a THEM instead of an IT) 3 Ash Wednesday (Nice, but not terrific) 1 Quatre Saison Damask, 1 Madame Plantier, 1 Chloris, 1 Hallie's Rose, and possibly 1 Madame Hardy.

All of the time I look at websites like Vintage and wonder why in the heck most of their albas and centifolias are listed under custom propagate.

Are they tough or are results better in the spring with some new growth or is there some ancient trick I don't know?

I gave one Bleu Magenta a vitamin B complex drink with Vitamin C added and the next morning it had a new shoot and the following day it was rooted.
