Through the thicket, and they survived

I had planted several roses last October in front of my house. In June, our large bois 'd arc fell on that bed. I had been too busy dealing with repairs on the house so the front bed was a jungle of weeds. Well, last Saturday I cleared out the bed to find several of my old European roses and others survived.

e.g.

William Lobb-a cascading monstor

Blanche Laffite-bare legs, but healthy

A climber

Francesca Kruger-tea, bare legs, but healthy

and finally...Tresor de Thorigny. I thought this rose died due to everyone trampling on her. She is taller than ever.

These roses have survived with little or no rain, smothered in weeds, and triple digit heat.

That's why I grow them.
