Ebb Tide is distributed by Weeks Roses, which means you will be able to get it at your local garden centers (NOT big box stores) as soon as the new bareroot roses come out for this year. And that is, not coincidentally, the best time to plant it in your area also. So, call your fav local nursery, ask when they get their bareroot rose stock in, and go that week. It could be as soon as the first week in December, or they may wait until January in your area -- I'm not sure. In SoCal, it's early December.

Then bring the bareroots home, soak them overnight underwater in a trash can and plant away.

aggierrose, I don't know if your area is as hot and dry as mine (forgive my ignorance, it could be humid for all I know), but I just wanted to mention that Ebb Tide, which is a gorgeous and fragrant rose, unfortunately just dwindled away in my garden. I suspect like many purple roses it would appreciate afternoon shade in areas with lots of heat.

I got mine bareroot from (I think) Dutch Gardens mailorder before I really knew any better. Service was fine, roses were not fantastic.

In my view, This products from this company are among the very best in value of all the companies from whom I have purchased roses over many years. I see that Ebb Tide is not availabe at this moment in time, but it is likely to be available in a month or so.

Since you live in Dallas, it is around an hour's drive or so to Tyler. Why not make a day of it and visit the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden as well. They have their annual Rose Festival that usually takes place later in September:

Thank you Ingrid. It is very hot here, not humid. I have a place in my yard where I want to plant about 7 ebb tides. I think they will do ok because the spot gets sun, but not full sun all day. Hopefully it will work! I have a terminally ill daughter and purple is her color so I'm creating a big splash of purple on one side of my house. I'm excited because I've heard such great things about ebb tide.

I bought Ebb Tide last year from Heirloom as a band. What a disappointment. It has only bloomed once since I got it and is still quite small. Come next rose season, I will be getting rid of it. I wouldn't buy it.

Cjrosaphile -- you really can't expect ANY band size rose to do much more than grow some roots in the first year. ANY blooms you get are a bonus, and a nice preview of what is to come. Roses grow, however, and become much nicer with time. A band size rose of any variety should have three years before being discarded as a "dud." Give it a chance. Ebb Tide is a really nice rose, and I think you'll like it, eventually.

If you can't wait the three years, then you should probably limit your purchases to full grown grafted plants, which are usually field grown for two years when you get them.

Kstrong is right cjrosaphile. Our own-root roses start performing there best in the 3rd year. But, also good soil conditions are a big plus and location of the rose is
important to whether they grow/bloom good or not.

Pickering had Ebb Tide this year (and sold out before spring shipping was finished).
My husband loves the scent of the blooms (first roses he's ever really noticed the scents).

I just ordered a bare root Ebb Tide from Regan Nursery. It will be delivered next spring. They still have some available to order, but they won't deliver till February at the earliest. I've never ordered from them before, but so far their customer service seems good, prices aren't bad, and they have a very good selection. It's nice to see some comments about Ebb Tide, I'm excited most people think it's a good rose. It looked like such a beautiful purple. I have a nice partially shady spot for it too, so hopefully it will do well.

Any Aggie should own a rose bred by another Aggie.
