Ya gotta love it

Ah, the daffodils gently swaying in the breeze, the

hyacinth in full bloom, new shoots coming off of the

rose bushes, iris poking through the ground, and the

snow is falling here in Glencoe .....

We actually had a few snow flurries here last nite in Santuck - but nothing stuck. AND, if we are not gonna get some snow, i want WINTER to GO AWAY!!! :)

Designer flakes in Jacksonville but the garden is showing loads of color. One of the plants blooming en masse are Helleborus orientalis (Lenten roses).
The pic shows two plants.

Don't worry I'm repressing plenty of tainted exploits from my youth, swiping the van was one I don't mind mentioning though because it was more amusing than criminal. Stealing a vehicle that has an empty gas tank,,, yeah that sounds like a real Einstein! LOL Still, running out of gas after only a few blocks was probably the best thing that could have happen to us under the circumstances. :)

I've hired a few people via Craigslist and have generally been pretty happy with the result. Our last cleaning lady was a CL catch, as were the plumber and our former electrician (who doesn't travel all the way up here or we'd still be using him). There are a lot of people placing ads as handymen/women, general laborers, and oddjobbers these days, probably needing to scrounge up a bit more money to make ends meet in this tough economy.

Lots o' seeds. Lots o' dirt. No ready-made plants (well, only a few onions). No grandkids to "help". Actually ... I should be out there, right now ... ... lots! yet to do ... ... not playing on the computer, here at the church (after the old guys' coffee hour). And during the hoeing, staking, stringing lines, running the cuts and dropping in the seeds (or pushing them down into the dirt) ... ... then watering ... ... I found out that I have a lot more muscles than I'd thought ... ... that I get tired with all of that exercise ... ... and that I'm getting old! ole joyfuelled

Oh terremadre - that is GORGEOUS! I had one bloom on one of mine recently - sitting in a pot! I was SOO excited!!!

Maybe this cold snap will bring me some fruit this summer. last year only one of four apple trees and two pears had a very few blooms and no set fruit, here in Rainbow City. I attribute that to not enough cold weather last winter.
BWT rj, I believe Glencoe is in zone 7.

Yes I had my 2yr out in it trying to catch snow in her hand she loved it, the lenten roses where so pretty with the snow around them and the anemones are also blooming ohhhhh cant wait for spring.
