Irish Roses

I am looking for a great Irish Rose to grow in zone 7 and available in the USA. I have come up with Irish Beauty (aka Elizabeth of Glamis and Irish Charm)), and Irish Hope. I'm sure there are others with positive attributes -eg. plant under 5' and good bloom characteristics. Thanks for your input. - Best

Should the name of the rose says "Irish" or roses by famous Irish hybridizer(s) like the Dicksons would also be OK?

Irish Hope is a great rose, healthy and very productive.

On HMF you can find a lot od roses that contains "Irish" as part of the name of the rose and many of them are bred by either the Dicksons or one of the McGredys.

Quite a few are available from Pickering or you can find them own root in various nurseries in the US.

If you're just looking for ornamentation in the garden then now would be fine. If you were looking for seeds to grow you should have left some to go to hips back in June. They take between 90 and 120 days to ripen fully. Most hips will turn red or orange when they ripen but some never change color at all. Just depends on the variety.

Now, I know that I posted a review here for Maureen. And it no longer appears!!!!! Well, here it is again. I traded with Maureen for some Yvonne's Salvia seed and received them quickly and she was generous with the seed as well. I will definintely trade with her again if the ooportunity arises!

Thanks Ceterum. I was hoping to find an excellent rose that had Irish in its name as well as good bloom and plant health. You confirmed one that I had seen mentioned but not experienced. This is helpful. Irish Fireflame sounds nice, but I was hoping for a double rose for the purpose being sought. I'll look through the list and check a few more out, but it appears that you have experience with a potential winner! - Best

Yes, Irish Hope has very beautiful flowers, fast repeat, and unusual disease resistance. The plant is rather narrow for me, so if it's feasible, I'd recommend planting two close together or sticking a dormant cutting inside the drip line. (Counts as one plant ;).

I like 'Irish Hope' very much. Beautiful foliage and very productive. Also perhaps 'St. Patrick'?

I have Irish Gold by mistake, Michigan Bulb sent it to me by accident and told me to go ahead and keep it. It is a repeat bloomer.
