Screen of roses for difficult situation?

User

Hello all. I would like to ask the very knowledgeable members here a question. I have a corner of our back yard that I would like to grow a natural screen on and of course roses our my first choice for possible plants. The thing is it's not the best site for roses - morning shade and afternoon sun. The bushes would need to be at least 6ft tall and fairly full. Color of bloom isn't too important as long as the colors don't clash. Fragrance is more of a priority for me. I don't want to spray either. Is this an impossible goal? Soil is well drained clay loam that will be amended with compost. Any help is much appreciated. This forum has been an invaluable source for me and I thank you all.

James
