I guess some of my neighbors feed squirrels as well. I keep finding buried peanuts in my flower beds and pots :o) Some squirrel relocated a lily bulb from the ground into container for me. It was really weird to see Lily blooming in the container with Camelia. "My" squirrels love to dig, but never eat greenery. I also vote for earwigs. Do leaves have round holes? Also rabbits or deer might do this.

I feed mine with tons of old stable and lucky to have a the farmer supply of rotten cow manure.Rain never affects Bugnets flowers even in the sea coast winds. My intent is to take cuttings of Bugnet and at field border plant up to stop deer as hate Rogusa roses .Have wire fence in front field side as aid to defensive tactics .Sort of belt and bracers . Bugnet I do not have to care for she is just right for this job.Plant in manured trenches and water well for first year and leave her to do her thing. .Cant understand why yours is such a flop for you dear. May be position may be breeder maybe both. 9 days later, those buds have lengthened to about 3.5" for the top one, and around 2" for those below, with small leaves unfolding quite nicely However, the presumptive "leader", The bud on the upper left, is still growing straight out at a 40 degree angle and showing no signs of curving upward yet. Will it continue growing this way for a while or will it start to turn up before the growth hardens off? I have a cheaper solution and it works as good as Deer Out even better. Take one beaten egg and mix with water. Take out the white little vein called Chalazae that anchors the yolk in the center of egg as it plugs the spray bottle. Find a spray bottle like size of tilex and fill to top with water. It smells badly because of the sulphur and deters the deer and rabbits etc. Make sure to spray after a rain. Smell lasts long time. Good luck. It really works.
