Sherry, very beautiful, but are you sure that's Mrs Dudley Cross?
The bloom coloration looks different from my two specimens. In six years of growth, I've never seen comparable blooms to that on my plants. But I would be happy if I did, because I like the looks of it!

Well... I thought so. Usually it's the palest yellow. So somebody guess what she really is.

Mrs.Dudley is a chameleon, opening one color and changing. Yours are missing the yellow but perhaps it will appear later. These photos are from cooler weather. Mine may have died in the great Summer Rose Death 2009, I have put off looking at names but there are many bodies in the garden that need burial. Hoping she is still alive but doubtful.

My Teas and Chinas are waking up too. They were beginning to put out new growth even before the five inches of rain we've gotten in the last week---HOORAY!!!!--but it certainly did help. Cooler weather in spring and fall really improves the blooms on these roses. So does maturing, as others have said. I remember when I planted a whole garden of roses once, and the first year ALL the blooms were ugly. I thought, what disaster have I caused. But the next year the roots had caught up with the top growth and the flowers were beautiful.
Teas are so variable in their coloring, and so many of them are double and shades of pale yellow and pink, that it's hard to be sure that you have the right variety. And so many Teas are mislabeled here in Europe. I've been eyeing a plant that I believe I rooted from a cutting from 'Lady Mary Corry'. The lady is supposed to be pale yellow, I believe. The flower is pale lemon yellow tinged with pink. Double, naturally. It could be anything. Anyway, your rose is very pretty!
I am so glad that fall is here, and that it has rained.

Oh, no, Denise, what caused your catastrophe? How terrible! Were they young roses? Thanks for the photos. I didn't look at the blooms today, so I don't know what Day 2 or 3 looked like. Yours are lovely.

Sherry, that is a beautiful pink rose, but I wonder if it's Jean Bach Sisley rather than MDC?

Gean, it does kind of look like JBS, but I have JBS on the other side. He has never had pale yellow flowers, and the bush looks different, and now his flowers have a deeper pink in them. It will be interesting to know what it really is. I'll have to call/email Rose Petals Nursery.

My MDC also looks like the photos posted by imagardener2! Is your rose thornless...MDC certainly is.

Hey, ain't no thorns on this bush!! Thanks, Molly! I've never seen a thornless rose bush. Guess I haven't been paying attention to her, poor thing. All her flowers now are the palest yellow, no pink at all. Are there any other totally thornless roses?
