Yves Piaget Doppelganger
Comments (12)A doppelganger would be an uncanny and unrelated look-alike, coming from the old idea of a "paranormal double of a living person." Nowadays, if someone said "I saw your doppelganger at the mall" it would mean "there was someone who looked JUST LIKE YOU that I thought it WAS you....but it wasn't." Oh, and I have no ideas about a doppelganger for 'Yves Piaget' but I will say this -- no matter how close the match, if you really want the real thing, the substitute will never completely "do" for you. I'd say to just hold out until you find what you really want -- especially since if you find it later, you'll end up getting it anyway. :-) ~Christopher...See MoreThis is why I keep the awkward growing Yves Piaget
Comments (10)Diane. Yves Piaget blooms are wonderfully fragrant, frilly confections and it grow and blooms fantastically in hot dry climates. The bush itself just grows with an awkward shapeless form. It kind of remains open in the center and the grows branches at odd angles of various lengths. Not at all "octopus canes" like some Austins. Just plain awkward, in a way I haven't seen on any other roses. Around here, it doesn't seem to mind my "deep stem cutting". This keeps it tidy and a nice size, that fits in perfectly with Bolero and Gruss an Aachen and other similar sized roses. My olive tree shades it from about noon until 2:30 pm, just until the sun makes its way up and over the tree. So, Yves Piaget gets a little break midday. Last year I had the tree severely trimmed in February, so Yves was in full sun all day. It was fine last year too. I'm curious to see if I notice anything different this summer with this midday break from the sun. Maybe the blooms will last longer in the summer heat? I don't have problems with Yves blooms frying or blowing in the summers though, so I don't know if I'll notice anything. Lisa...See MoreYves Piaget, good or bad?
Comments (10)I don't know what happened, since I take photos like crazy, but I can't find a photo. I'll have to check it out again next time I'm there. The flowers looked pretty much but perhaps not quite as perfect as your beautiful photos, with thick, sturdy and slightly ruffled petals. Since I was curious, I just checked that house on Google maps, and those images must have been taken when it was just planted or just pruned, since it is small and looks like just any standard rose....See MoreRose Yves Piaget
Comments (45)Thank you nie 3. Palatine is the only source for Augusta Luise, and I don't believe they offer it in tree form. In my zone 7, AL is huge--about 7X7 feet and very vigorous, so I don't think she would work that well as a tree rose, but you never know. There are lots of Julia Child tree roses around, and my regular Julias are just as big as Augusta. Rose size depends on climate and a lot of other factors, I've learned. I don't grow Yves, but I think he's a great rose. I'm out of garden space right now. Diane...See Moreroseseek
