Blues and purples always look stunning in the bg when people here post photos. I never cared much for that zebra mallow, but there are others that are plain. Delphinium, foxglove, gypsophilia (the perennial from Bluestone, not the paniculata I planted which hasn't bloomed), different varieties of campanula, veronica, double coreopsis, daisies, asters, phlox, monarda but it gets too thick too fast.

You can always fill in with annuals, but I prefer perennials. Then something like artemesia or lamb's ear? for contrast.

Just some general ideas.

I don't know if you can grow lavender in your zone but that blends in with pinks, whites and purples very nicely.

I planted a veronica and campanula near my roses this year and will add more next year. As aliska said the blues complement roses and since you have the warm colors and the white in the roses I think any perennial that is blue will look good.

I think I might do salvia caradonna from the 1st pink rose to the last pink rose and salvia eveline around the dark red rose. what do you think. Would it be too broken up to put the eveline around the purple rose too?

My favorite if you just want a ground cover look I use Sweet Allysum, short Lavender and I have an amazingsmall bulb that grows an abundance of deep pink flowers six inches tall all year around here in San Diego. They love the semi shade of the roses in the hot summer. Don't know what they are called but will share if you'ld like to try a few. debbysunshine@hotmail.com
