Safer insecticidal soap should take care of them. But you have to spray both sides of the leaves. You can also release beneficial insects to control the lacebug infestation.

Per the product label, the product that you mentioned is not recommended as a control for lacebugs. However, Bayer All-in-one Rose & Flower Care is (but because it is a systemic, you mix it and pour it at the base of the plant). There are other Bayer Products that claim control of lacebugs so read their labels and instructions for either spraying on leaves or pouring mixes at the bases of the plants. I did not check to see if the Bayer Products have any temperature restrictions so please ck that out on the labels.

Note that those products will also kill beneficial insects (such as lacewings and ladybeetles) that may currently be feeding on your lacebugs; the insecticidal soap would be my choice. Also note that those Bayer products should not be used around herbs and fruit trees.
I know what you are going thru. Had that problems with lacebugs last year so I wrote a note on this year's calendar (indicating when the infestation happened) and now I took preemptive action ahead of time.

Is the name of the soap "Safer"? Where do you get it?

A friend recommended Spectracide Bug Stop. You mix it with water and spray the leaves (both sides). The active ingredients are listed as pyrethrins and piperonyl butoxide. What about this product? Is the soap better?

The Bayer Tree and Shrub does have Lacebug listed on the inside of the label.

I have not used anything yet.

No, sorry, the leaves won't turn green where damaged; you'll have to wait for next years new growth buds to open and replace them...

We don't encounter lace bug here, I don't think we have enough sun. If you don't garden strictly organically, Orthene is often the chemical recommended for control. If you purchase it, be sure to read the label directions carefully, and don't apply the spray mid day in warm weather. Should you choose to use a chemical spray, you would not need to also use the Bayer product. I've only used Bayer for roses, is the product you have a liquid form as the granules that are scratched into the soil then watered in would require you to 'scratch' into the surface roots.

Lace bugs do make the leaves unsightly for the current season, but these are soft-bodied insects and thus not difficult to control. The use of heavy duty insecticides like Orthene or systemics is not necessary. Insecticidal soap like the Safer brand works and I have had the best control with Neem extract in oil - there are several brands and should be available at a good nursery.

I used the Bayer systemic this spring (according to label directions) and had great success.

I don't know if anyone is still on this thread, but I wish to add that we've been dealing with lacebugs as well and we simply jet our large rhodies with the hose about once each week. I try to be sure and hit the undersides of the leaves where the eggs are purportedd to be and wash them off before the hatch and the little suckers go to work. The plants are looking much better this season from this effort. No chemicals at all.

I was using Bayer's 'T&S Insects Control' for the first time this year and results are amazing, no lacebugs and midges at all, very minimal black vine weevil damage.
Product is liquid. You simply dilute it in a water according to the height of the plant and pour on a soil as close to the trunk as possible. One application need for a whole season. Could be appliead as early as soil could absorb water and it will work on a new growth too.

What does a lacebug look like, something has attacked my Encore azalea and my regular azalea and it looks silvery on top of the leaves and the under side looks like tiny rust spots, My neighbor says it's not rust but some kind of tiny bug???

clogg2232: What you've described is exactly what lacebug damage looks like - the "rust spots" on the leaf undersides are where the mouth parts of the insects have penetrated and fed. The insects themselves are barely visible to the naked eye, but look something like midges with translucent wings.
