Hello people.........this person planted strawberry roots, not tiny seedlings. They should come ripping up in spring, and they won't look like tiny seedlings. When did you set out the crowns? If you planted them dormant this spring yes, you should have long ago seen signs of life. If planted last fall, your berry season is already over. When foliage comes from the crown of tubers it doesn't get a tiny little leaf. Normal size leaves erupt. Sprinkling strawberry seeds outside on the ground isn't very successfuly either. They're even a little iffy sown in a greenhouse under controlled conditions. Please.......when did you plant them, and how were they purchased and when.

If this is related to the plants' air cleaning properties you might want to google B. C. Wolverton, the NASA scientist who did the original studies. He wrote a book called "How to Grow Fresh Air." You can read free excerpts from it on Amazon. Basically he recommends that you grow the plants in hydroculture because most of the plants' air cleaning properties are in the roots. I have read that hydroculture is much more popular over in Europe than it is here in the US. Don't know about the UK.

Seed of Change and Mountain valley Growers are the only truly certified organic crown sources in the country as Pranther Ranch in California stopped producing them because there were not enough buyers. Unfortunatly, so-called organic growers can purchase conventional crowns and grow them as organic, allowable by certifing agencies. Just like you can get around purchasing organic seed and using conventional because they are not "available or not enough quantity". Just like "free range, excess to outdoors", too many loopholes in the system. We need to change the system.
