More Sprouts!

What was just a little walk around the yard turned out to be an "all containers sprout check".

Here's what's sprouted as of today:

Iberis Umbellata-Candytuft 9-Mar

Silene armeria (Caryophyllaceae)- Catchfly

Campanula medium Canterbury Bells Mixed seeds

Papaver bracteatum (labeled as Himalyan Poppy)

Papaver rhoeas Shirley Poppy

Papaver nudicaule Iceland Poppy

Papaver rhoeas Corn Poppy

Papaver rhoeas Red Poppy

Lupine (collected seed)

Lychnis chalceldonia Maltese Cross (red)

Achillea millefolium- Red Yarrow "Cerise Queen"

Tanacetum balsamita

Lupine Russell's Prize Mix

Vegetable-Rocket Arugala

So that's 14 out of 171...it's only the beginning! :-)

I have a smile for you. :O) You must be happy!! What a way to go.

Don't have anything here yet but that's the name of the game. I always sprout later than other zones 5 and am quite used to it.

I know you are sending that sprouting wave here.

Sunflowers are notably difficult to identify by foliage alone, though budding at that size, I would suspect one of the dwarf kinds, such as 'Sunspot' or 'Junior'. Kevin : )

The only thing I lost was cosmos because I was a n00b and put it out in January. I sowed tomatoes and tender perennials 17 Feb last year and they did great, no additional covers. The basil is a little experimental but it is on the winter sowing list, and I can sow more if they don't make it. The weather warms up so quickly I'm trying to push things earlier... I'm not going to cover them. We'll see. The jugs are all closed still. I have them in partial sun so they don't bake, but enough to keep them about 37-40ÃÂ° at night.

Congrats on your sprouts! :) I have 9 containers that sprouted for me so far. This winter has been milder than last year's, and many of us are seeing container sproutage earlier than usual. Anyways, here are my 9 that have sprouted. Some I planted before the start date of the Zone Wars. Wild Blue Lupine (sown Dec. 20) Maltese Cross (Sown Dec. 20) (one of my containers of it) Shasta Daisy "Snow Lady" (Sown Jan. 1) Valerian (Sown Jan. 20) Gaillardia "Arizona Sun" (Sown Dec. 23) Feverfew (Sown Jan. 8) Double Feverfew Ipomopsis rubra Dorinicum "Little Leo" I forgot the last dates on these three but they were the first containers to sprout. Nigella and strawflower sprouted for me today. That's 13 out of 33. This week should yield more.

Congrats!! I am glad to see zone 5 sprouting!!! (and others)

I am a tad it worried cause I don't have sprouts.

I hope having mine in the sun has not cooked my containers ;) Just newbie jitters.

I have 81 containers even if I messed up a few are bound to sprout.

oooo that is so exciting to here.
We finally had a "spring-like" day here, reached 54 degrees! WAHOOOO!
There's still a lot of snow and I know I'm probably 6-8 weeks from sprouts yet, but it is nice to hear of some "neighbors" getting some sprouts.

Spring may actually come after all :)

I can see the cabbage seeds sending roots down, but no actual sprouts yet. Got a few days of warmish weather, any time now.....
