My cat does all his business outside and I haven't seen any signs of damage. Have you? I often wish he'd use the litter box instead of going out and getting drenched, but hey, he's a cat, has his own agenda. And I love him.

My Tasha is an indoor cat and we have a neighbor who leaves their cats out at times, and they come over here and pee. It's a problem because they are both males and we are at the point that we can no longer leave our windows open to get fresh air. I really appreciate this neighbor who gives a home to several cats and takes really good care of them, but I'd like some fresh air once in a while. Only two of their cats come over here, the rest stay in their yard, but those two really stink up the place.

We've also found cat poop buried in our flower beds. That's no fun to run across when weeding!

We bought something to sprinkle on the ground around the flower beds at a local feed store and without going out to get it, I can't remember what it is. It wasn't cheap though, but is supposed to last for several weeks before you put it down again. If it works, I'll get the name of it and post it here.

Any other ideas? Oh and we also have a dog, a large Boxer, but the cats aren't really afraid of him. And since he's in the house most of the time, the cats don't really see him that much. He will chase them home when he's outside with us, but that's only when he's outside with us and that's not necessarily when the cats are around.

I'm open to all suggestions.

I think most of us have had a cat problem from time to time -

Critter Ridder granules by Havahart (the pet friendly people) are usually effective, as are the green jello like cubes of Get Off My Garden. Cats are often repelled by anything citrus scented too so don't overlook products containing orange oil, including your own orange peels chopped and scattered around. We don't eat enough oranges to keep a supply going - I keep the Critter Ridder on hand and it seems to break behavior patterns (at least temporarily) if I'm consistent with it.

Surprises of that kind really are gross when you're minding your own business & getting all zen working in the garden...

Make a tea of really hot peppers such as cayenne, let it cool, spray it on the area where the cats go, & put the rest in the fridge for use later.

Cover up all of your bare dirt with plants!

Lay down cheap nylon bird netting in between new plants until they grow in, they don't like to walk on it. Ditto chicken wire.

Use heavy mulch like rock or bark nuggets
