Chicago area plant swap

This is a reminder for people to mark their calendars.

Memorial day weekend, Friday eve, May 22, at Skokie IL our 3rd annual "Gardens without borders" plant swap will take place.

I will post details and open wants/haves list later at the end of April/ beginning of May. Those of you who are just starting and have no plants to bring or lurkers, hiding in the shadows of GW- please, consider coming and joining us if driving distance is comfortable for you. We could always appreciate a pie or cookies donation to the cause ;)

I will be there! I can't wait. Or, yes, I can, since if we had it right now, there'd be nothing to share!

I think this will be the third year I've gone (and you've held it), and so much of the beautiful and interesting things in my garden came from your swap!

It's worth the drive, if anyone is wondering! Plus, you get to meet ME!!

If anyone wants to do an in-person seed-swap while we're there, let me know! The first 4 packs are on me (subject to availability). I want to meet you guys in person!

I drive past the Chicago Botanic Garden on my way up to Milwaukee to visit my sister and I keep saying I'm going to stop in one of these days, but I always tend to be up that way in the winter. I will be going up Feb 17...missed the swap by 1 week. :( If the swap were only 1 week earlier, I'd drive back down for the afternoon.

for those of you who divides their plants I think it is perfectly fine if you dig up and bring it alone in plastic bag, moistened but not potted as long as it had decent root ball to go with. Mone if you have energy to swing by, I think everybody would be delighted. Primula sieboldii has gone dormant so all I could give you piece of soil and hope there is plant there LOL it is one of the primulas that completely dies back. I do have few others, with this cold summer my primulas are still blooming... I would love some fancy coleus cuttings I will pot up few seedlings of aconitum napellus and see if they survive. If anyone want to add petasites japonicus purpurea to their garden be my guest am not sure about rhubarb have to check what is growing there it did not bloom this year and it is rarely produces babies.

Hi, The swap is on for September 11. I have set up a bulletin board with all the swap info. You can also post your wants/haves, etc. I couldn't get a picnic pavilion at Herrick so it will be held at the Blackwell Preserve, near West Chicago, instead.
