Climbing roses in large containers

I've researched the message boards, but keep finding conflicting answers with regards to planting climbing roses in large containers. I have two red climbing eden roses that I'm looking to plant in my back yard.

The two options are:
1. A great sunny spot with plenty of airflow that's elevated. This would be ideal, except I realized that a very large tree not too terribly far off would have smaller branched out roots that might make their way to the roses.
2. A spot next to the house that wouldn't have the threat of entrenching roots but that wouldn't get full sun until around noon. From then on it would get plenty of sun.

So I'm thinking of planting the roses on the brick patio in these large barrels. The barrels are 25x25x18h.

Would these barrels be large enough or would I be better off taking my chances with one of the other two spots?? This is my first time growing roses, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
