How to pick a good weeping Katsura

I just called a nursery today about a weeping Katsura and they said they have 2--one about 7 feet tall, but spindly and with not much lower branching, selling for $89 and another at about 5 feet with very full branching for $450!! I don't know if it's worth the farily long drive to this nursery since this woman kind of pooh-poohed the taller tree, but the shorter one is definitely out of my price range! If the cheaper one is still spindly at 7 feet, will it always be a dud? Or maybe they were just trying to sway me toward the way-too-pricey tree?

I saw a weeping Katsura at another nursery and it was about 6 feet tall, seemed to have a nice shape, and it was for $125. At any price, I don't want to get a tree that will always under-impress, so how do you know if you're seeing a great example of the tree or not?

Sorry for this novice question!

Eileen
