Please help my plant not die!!!!!

Is there a problem in planting a rose in the self watering pot from walmart? The rose is very hardy to my zone, a winner & I keep watering well, with very good sunlight, but unfortunately my rose seems to turn yellow leaves and drop off!! The same happened when I put my favourite rose in that pot previously and it too died!! I can't put a fertilizer this early in its growth, as this will also make the plant die! Since it's self watering, I thought i will not water untill all the water is absorbed from under the pot, but this is also killing my plant. I seem not to understnad where am I going wrong! God!, but I am getting seriously demotivated and frustrated. Experts out there--Please please help me & my rose!!

I brought new rose 1 month back and planted it in my pot. It seems to do well with small leaves comign up. It had sufficient water, sunlight etc.. and had no problem and i was happy. And then i thought I would put a fertilizer to it for its growth, immediatBut then suddenly

Is it a patio rose type where the blooms are smaller? I had really bad luck with this type of rose due to Blackspot. Another problem is that it may be getting too much watering.

I can understand why you are frustrated!!! You can maybe repot & forget about the "self watering" system or take that dam rose back, get a refund & try another rose.

We can't help with "yellow leaves" unless you describe where on the plant (new or old growth), what pattern of yellow vs. other colors on the leaf, and how much (widespread or just a couple).

What kind of rose is it, for example hybrid tea or mini?

How big is the pot in diameter or gallonage? How big is the plant?

How much water are you giving per week?

If you are concerned about whether the self-watering is working, knock out the plant and see whether the soil is too wet or too dry.

If it's still in the pot, it's probably root bound, Also probably needs a nice shot of balanced fertilizer. Looks fairly good to me. elaine

Well I am by far no expert. But I do own one and have successfully kept it alive 6 months. First question, do you water it from rain water or distilled water? No tap right? Does it get cold? Lets start there and I hope someone else sees your post. Im afraid they think others have responded. I did because it looks like responses when you were really adding pictures. But pictures are Good at diagnosing.

Sydney is a zone 4 in Australia which is equivelent to a zone 10 in the US.(correct me if wrong) Your weather appears to be good for planting the robusta now. No worries about the weather, just make sure the soil drains well by mixing sand and composted material with your native soil so it doesn't hold too much water or stays too wet in rainy weather. They are basiclly a desert palm and like somewhat dry conditions. If you didn't allow the roots to dry out, it should be fine in my opinion. Let it get a little dry between waterings (moist not wet) and it should do ok. What are your summer highs and winter lows? Just curious!

Depends. What was the bulb number you bought ? Something like F20t12/D ... would be just the same color as Daylight,, not the yellowish warm comfy feeling light we humans like for a nice ambiance. Daylight is more of a blueish color, and just a standard fluorescent bulb. That aquarium/gro-lite tube has more ideal colors for growing green plants that probably are a bit more than slightly better for growing green stuff. Supposedly. Grow-Tone bulbs work...they need to be close,, plants need lots of lumen's.. Sunlight is way bright in lumen's compared to those fluorescent tubes. You're gonna have to be around those bulbs a long time to get a tan. Same with the photosynthesis.
