Wintersowing brochure?

I remember a post a while back where someone had created a handy brochure on wintersowing, but when I did a search, all of the related threads had missing links. Can someone post a link to that brochure thread, or email me a copy of the brochure?

I was at Walmart today, and I saw boxes of seeds, but they weren't opened and on display yet. The nice lady in the garden center opened several for me to look through, and pick a few packs out. While I was helping her open them up, I explained a little about wintersowing, and she was very excited about it. She's the first person who hasn't looked at me like a lunatic when I told them about it, LOL!!! I promised her I would bring her some information about it next time I'm in, and since she went out of her way for me today, I want to make sure I follow through.

Hi Bonnie,

I think some of do teach and have brochures.

I just emailed you a PDF of a trifold brochure I send out--it has the method and some seed lists on one side and a feedback form on the other.

You're welcome to print out as often as needed.

Hi Trudi, Rodents destroyed all my tomato, pepper, eggplant, squash seeds. If you still have seed available I am interested in the following for SASE. jspeachyn5, I used to envy her zone 10 until I realized there are a lot of things she can't grow that I can, things that require cold. Many spring bulbs (we get bigger tulips), cherries, apples, etc. She can't grow greens except in winter because it's too warm, forget about kale or carrots. But yeah, this time of year when she calls me up to tell me about harvesting fresh strawberries in 70 degree weather? Zone envy big time! I haven't exactly converted my husband but he is an enabler. Yesterday he came home with a clear milk jug and a 2-liter he'd nicked out of a neighbor's recycling bin. I have, however, completely corrupted my kids (ages 5 and 2 1/2). They have their own boxes of seeds which Mommy has made a solemn vow not to raid. :) My daughter now checks every container to see if it's good for winter sowing!

Hi Lisa, Melon seeds are slways welcome and appreciated. I am a very big fan of the entire melon and gourd family, which includes cucumbers, winter squash, zukes, etc. When I have these seeds I always put them into SASEs...they don't stay here long at all. I like them for a few reasons. First, they're usually quite easy to grow. A bucket of compost, a little food and water is all it takes for success. They can climb or crawl--it works out well either way. Second, the seeds are large and easy to sow. Tiny, very young hands or old, arthritic ones can easily manipulate the seeds. Third, the seeds are very forgiving--you could sow them a bit too deep and they'll still have enough energy reserves to get their leaves to the sun. And finally, they sprout fast with big leaves. This is exciting for anyone--little children have little patience, these seeds are a blessing if you're helping a young child with their first garden. Thank you Lisa, T

Ann, All the best to you in your presentation. I did the same in late March, concentrating on winter sowing. The response was fabulous. I brought a prop box with all the tools of the trade - pop bottles, and other recyclables, soil, seeds, covers, etc. I actually sowed some seeds with them that evening. It was a container of Mulleins, seeds courtesy of Stage Rat :O). At the next meeting a month later, I had the pleasure of announcing that the Mulleins were up. I gave away MANY packets of seeds on the condition that they be winter sown, and at the last meeting, many gardeners were happy to report lots of sprouts. I just placed key words on a piece of paper and spoke about each one. Very informal.

Hope you don't mind I've been printing out copies of the tomato seed saving brochure to share. I love the new method. It doesn't attract fruit flies!

CErtainly you can have a copy...it's been mailed.

I'm glad you like the tomato seed saving method. It's so easy and like you say...no flies that you often get with fermentation. Fermentation has a lot of drawbacks...it takes several days, it's inconsistent in success, bugs are a problem, but personally I get genuinely nauseated at the site of moldy liquids. It's disgusting. Doing a sani-scrub with ajax/comet/similar just makes so much sens.; you reduce or outright destroy all exterior seed-borne pathogens, and it's over and done with in thirty five minutes with a half-break in there too. Fast. Easy. Efficient.

ME TOO Trudi???? Please? I just got asked by someone about the method and I sent them to wintersow.org to look around. However, I think they will get it better if they have something they can print out and read.

Trudi you have created a monster!! :) we are all going to want to have the brochure to be able to 'spread the word'. I get tired of people thinking I am 'sewing'.(it can get confusing!! :))

Greylady is right about this being a monster....I wish I had the time but I'm so busy with the SASE programs that I can't frequently check Bonnie's post for requests.
