The Sonderegger Pine

This past fall, I received 10 Sonderegger pines from Willis Orchards. Although I trust the company to send me the correct trees, I'm unsure if they are in fact loblolly/longleaf hybrids. They are 3ft in height and have shorter needles than even my loblollis. They also got significant brown needles through their first winter. So, this could actually prove they are crossed with longleaf; being less hardy. However, I have a 3ft 2yr old Slash Pine growing much faster and looks much healthier than the "sondereggers". And Slash pine, as I understand, are supposed to be the least hardy of the southern pines. So I'm confused. Does anyone have any information on how I can verify I got the true hybrids? any pics? I will try to upload some photos of them soon to help out.
