Help me a smaller tree for this mostly sunny area (pictures)

I have an area by my mailbox where I want to plant a small, ornamental type tree. I would like it to be around 15 feet tall and similar in width or narrower- the more showy and interesting looking the better. For some reason I had always assumed the spot was full sun so I was considering a small crabapple. When I starting looking into it I realized that three big oaks in my front yard are shading the area in the afternoon, probably starting around 3 PM. From sunrise to then, the area is bright direct sun. Take a look at the pics. The first pic is facing west.

The mailbox is basically the property line, so there isn't much space between it and the driveway.

Here's a close-up of where the trench leads, which is 7 feet behind the mailbox

Thanks for help. Let me know if you want more pics. Some trees I've thought about besides small crabs are lilac trees or dogwood trees. Any other ideas?
