They get used to it, trust me.

First year

"you're going to do WHAT? are you crazy?

February,

"Anything in particular you would like for valentines day?

ME "miracle grow potting mix, 4 bags please"

hubby "Yup you are nuts."

College daughter " and you are just finding this out after how many years"

I did get that soil.

End of February.

"I just shoveled a path for you to play with your containers outside."

Mid June and exactly 1,000 containers outside.

"OMG, how are you ever going to plant all these seedlings?"

ME- "just wait and see"

and they all got in the ground.

Fast forward to year 7.

Both daughter and hubby are well trained now.

Only gifts they give me are bags of potting mix, bags of recycled containers to use, more bags and more containers.

Never have to tell them what containers to keep and the comments are.

"Mom, are you feeling OK, it's kind of naked out back."

"mom, is there something wrong, it's January and it's naked out back."

"Honey, everything OK? it's naked out back."

and finally,

"Thank you, thank you, everything starting to look normal out back. Makes me feel welcomed in my own home again."

"Thank goodness everything is back to normal, Mom. Was getting worried about you."

See just take time and one winter and spring to sow the seeds, one spring and summer to see the results and they get right into line and understand this new found obsession of ours.

That's awesome! When people ask what the jugs out back are, my DH rolls his eyes and responds "Ohh don't get her started!" He just doesn't look out the window and pretends there is nothing there.

Last year:

Me: "Honey, can we have too many seeds and plants?"
Hubby: "No"

A month later:
Me: "Honey, can we have too many seeds and plants?"
Hubby: "No"

The next month:
Me: "Honey, can we have too many seeds and plants?"
Hubby: "No"

And the following month:
Me: "Honey, can we have too many seeds and plants?"
Hubby: "Um... Hmmm... I don't think so... Well, maybe."

These are good, I posted this somewhere else, but will retell it here again.
Last week, hubby and I were driving to the big city, taking the back country roads,in the middle of the road, was a large,plastic, ice crean container,I didn't say a word,but i WAS thinking,hubby looks at me, and says,"It would not work, it has a very large crack in it,"ha ha ha
I was thinking it would be a good container though.
How can you not love a guy like that,:0)

ME... "Oh God, NO!!!"
But he just brings home more.
what a difference a year makes. LOL!
he knows I have more seeds. LOve him!!! He's a shameless enabler!

I'm hoping for potting mix for valintines day but it probably won't happen, I'll just have to go get in myself.
My DH would like for our yard to look like a golf course and I'd rather have Celia Thaxters garden!

And now, after many, many years of WS. My hubby says around Christmas:

"have the seed catalogs come? How many seeds did you save? Are you trading yet. You better hurry if you haven't started".

In the summer "I was driving by someone's trash and I found some garden flats and a bunch of 4" cups. Where do you want me to put them?"

Around now "How many flats have you planted yet? Do you think you've planted enough? Don't you need to order more seeds?"

In the spring (especially for seedlings that don't go out for another 6 months or a year) - "When do we set up the holding area, and do I need to water the seedlings before I go to work in the AM or have you got that under control"...

After years of winter sowing, my hubby fully knows how much money we save by winter sowing. I have also earned money winter sowing! I ordered $120 worth of perennial seeds this year. That translates into $4,000 - $6,000 retail worth of plants, shrubs, trees. I just saved us a LOT of money!

I was right-I got chocolate! At least I can eat that while I make up the short list of what's next!!LOL!! I'll have to go out sometime next week and get more mix. Luckily the big box store is next to my favorite garden center where I ordered a bunch of Botanical Interest Seeds. Picking up more seeds and more potting mix, what more could a girl ask for?

For Valentines Day, my DH got me a bouquet of flowers (yup, checked for seed pods when he wasn't looking) and an opal necklace. I asked him what the opal symbolized and he thought it was probably some kind of flower that I've planted in one of the 331 jugs I've WS'd!!! I guess that's CLOSE to being romantic :-)....

My new boyfriend is a keeper for sure. He has his friends and co-workers saving milk jugs for me. And for Valentines Day not only did he show up with roses and chocolate but also with packs of flower seeds, perennial plants, a mini rose bush and a spading fork! Gotta love it!

Too funny! I thought I was the only one who got a big bag of MG Potting Mix for Valentines Day! It was just what I wanted.

Gotta love a DH who knows the real you. Skip the flowers - just bring me the seeds and dirt. :)

My DH is so sweet, last spring he told me "You have permission to buy all the flowering plants you want."
