Your thoughts on David Phlox

Trying to find a perennial (white flowering) to put in back of my boxwood hedges. The boxwoods will be kept to no taller than 2 feet, so the plant should be 3-4 ft. tall. I was thinking white hydrangeas, but they may be too wide a bush (I have a narrow area--about 3 feet) and the blooms droop so much I think the boxwoods will hide them. I came across David Phlox, and think I may have the perfect plant. Hardy to my zone, tall white flowers, disease resistant.... Ok, now it's up to all of you to burst my bubble :) No, honestly I want to know the downside before I decide. Also, how long will the phlox be 'green' even. I'm such a novice--forgive me! I know that through the winter, the boxwoods will stand alone, but I would like to know that during the fall and Spring (when they are not blooming) that there will be some greenery back there. Thanks so much!
