No rain/too much rain

Here in northeast Louisiana, it is becoming dry as the proverbial bone after a wet, flooding spring. We have had no measurable rain since the end of May with daily temps in the HIGH 90's or 100's. What's ironic is our river, the Ouachita and its tributaries are still at higher than usual summer levels. There is a very tenacious high pressure that is smack, dab over us and will not allow any clouds to build up and rain on us. In Ark. just north there has been over abundant rain but it fades out when it crosses the state line. It is amazing how the extremes of rain or lack of keeping every gardener unhappy! There is an increasing chance of rain after the weekend. My son who is a soybean farmer says we need a very strong cold front from the west or a (dare I speak the word?) tropical storm to dislodge the high pressure. Here's praying the rain in the north will come here and our heat and sunny days will go north! Buff
