Nope. And indoors, I've gotten one seedling out of 10 seeds that I sowed. I'm starting to think they put extra seeds in the packs knowing there wouldn't be ideal germination. Just my opinion.

Whoa! You guys are worrying already? In zones 4 and 5 it's way too early for that, for sure. Not sure about token as I've never lived in zone 7. Token, did you give those indoor ones any cold strat first? Or use heat? Just curious.

I have a jug of the Rud CB outside now, been there since January. They (other rud hirtas) have always germinated and wintersown very well for me. I'm expecting nothing less from these, I hope my confidence isn't misplaced. I never see sprouts on ANYTHING until March, and I'm in zone 6. Zone 4 and 5 folks need to just sit back and have a beer, relax. Your time will be here soon, just not yet.

Haven't sown mine yet. Waiting a couple more weeks. My other Rudbeckias were WS this past weekend though.

The wintersown ones have been out there since early Feb. The indoor ones went from the package to the soil. I figured they were pre-stratified. Did I waste 8 seeds? 2 germinated. One never got out of its shell.

I don't know if they were pre-stratified, token. I was just curious as to what you had done.

Clothier says. "Sow at 20ºC (68ºF), if no germination in 3-4 wks, move to -4 to +4ºC (24-39ºF) for 2-4 wks". I was wondering if the cold exposure in WSing helped germination.

Token, I hope your seeds sprout soon, I hate to think that these hyped up seeds aren't very good sprouters? I received some in a trade and have not even sown them yet.

Checking my records, last year I sowed about 10 containers total of Rudbeckia hirta. Some Indian Summer, Cappucino, Irish Eyes, etc. around March 1st and those sprouted April 10th and 11th. Then I bought another packet of 'Indian Summer' and sowed those March 21st, which sprouted mid-April. They all had plenty of sprouts and most of them bloomed nicely. I expect some of the plants will come back to bloom for a 2nd year.

It's time to get around to sowing the Cherry Brandy, I want some more 'Cappucino' and 'Indian Summer' too just in case plants don't come back. I think the Cappucino would look good mixed with the Cherry Brandy.

Rudbeckia hirta 'Cappucino' in middle, Helenium 'Mardi Gras' in the background. Unfortunatley the basil and Melampodium in front decided to take over the bed and got huge...won't make that mistake next year. :)

I am not looking for sprouts here as haven't even sown any yet. Gave some to a friend who starts plants inside so was just wondering what results those who had started them inside were having.

I will ws mine in March or early April.

I've had bad luck with these seeds. I don't think they're very fertile. I used commercial seeds and WSed and SSown them, WS gave me one sprout from the whole pack, the SSown ones never sprouted at all.

Oh no! I really had high hopes for this one (and I gave some of my seeds away). Oh well, I sowed my remaining half of a pack today. We'll see! Nikki

Wow, if these seeds turn out to be duds, I feel sorry for the people who spent $3-4 for 10 seeds, or $5 for 25 seeds on ebay! Especially when the picture shows Gaillardia!! LOL

trudi: What's SSown mean? Self sown is all that comes to mind? Are you speaking of hirtas in general or Cherry Brandy specifically? I'm disappointed to hear that too. Because hirtas have always WSown so well for me I was expecting the same from these.

Hi guys!!
I also sowed my Cherry brandy on feb 4th and they sprouted on feb 14-24th, now I have sprouts in all of my four packs. I did put them in the fridge as soon as I got them from t&m earlier in the year, but I do that with all of my seeds. I don't know if that helped any at all.

I hope you guys get sprouts soon! I was looking forward to seeing the ruds in other peoples gardens to compare (and maybe get a few combo ideas)
